My developmental specialist said to try making a palet on the floor beside your bed and gradually wean him back to his room. I tried this and it work for 2 of my children I started by my bed, then after a week to the hallway, then to their bed with a night light in the hall. it took about 3 1/2 weeks but it works. Good luck

you could try to make a reward chart ..so if you make one for a 30 day time frame, every few days let him pick what rewards he will get on those days for sleeping in his bed all night the preceeding nights.  The rewards do not have to cost money ..they could be a favorite place to visit or play ...some special time with Mom ...or something from the dollar store ..whatever might motivate him.  This worked for my friends son.  Good luck!  Oh yeah and make a really big deal about little accomplishments ...say if he goes to sleep in his bed, but does not make it all night ...remember to focus on what he did do right and go from there.

thanks for the replys so far- i tried the rewards but not on a chart for a visual thing for him. we have tried talking it out-it is mostly behavioral and habit. He had 3 surgeries for sleep apnea in the past so we had him sleep with us because he would stop breathing. Now he is well but suffers from restless leg syndrome. He wants to sleep in his room but with one of us there-bed is a little small. I have not tried the palet-that sounds like an idea

Does he give you a reason for why he keeps crawling into bed with you? I found that talking it out with my son helped....he had different reasons at different times....being cold, heard a noise, felt lonely. It was good for him to talk it out. We tried to give him his own time alone with us before bed, talking, reading stories. Now that I'm typing I remember as well giving him some different ideas to help him get back to sleep.
