How do I get my child to sit still in a car seat?

My daughter Sophie is 17 months old and hates her car seat. We finally got a dvd player and that does help, but after being in the car about 10-15 minutes she starts crying. She doesn't like sitting still or sitting anywhere for any amount of time. She is always on the go. I am a Stay at Home Mom so we dont go that many places, but when i do need to get out, it's not fun. We would like to take a trip this summer and I dont know how she will do. This child has never taken a nap in a stroller or a car seat HELP!!!

Have a bag of toys just for the car, new toys are more fun to play with then ones you get everyday.

My son who is 3 was the same way, then we let him pick out a seat and he was fine after. Just try to find a few of the booster/convertible car seats that fit in your price range and see if maybe if she picks it she may like it better. I know that's asking a lot of a 17 month old but sometime they just like the extra room of a booster that has the harness for the smaller kids.
