My husband and I recently decided to go ahead and try for baby #2, our son is almost 5 and was an accident ♥ best one ever. I'm trying to be patient and not worry myself about it but I am so anxious! I know its different for everybody, but how long did it take you to conceive once you were actively trying??

For my second boy I knew the signs of ovulation so I got pregnant right away. So knowing when you ovulate helps it happen real fast. After your periods, about a week, do you notice you get a very clear sticky discharge. Thats when you are ovulating! Practice lots during that time and see what happens! LOL Good Luck!

Wow, there are a lot of really fertile people on this site! Unfortunately, it isn't that easy for everyone. It took us 4 years to conceive our son, and we have already been trying for 16 months (with no success) for baby #2. It can be really hard when it seems everyone else gets pregnant so easily. I wish you lots of luck!

first baby was 7 months so for our second we came off contraception 7 months before we wanted to fall pregnant but got surprised the very next month. My doctor said and i read in other places (books and internet mainly) that 7 months is average for a healthy fertile couple

I have an application on my iTouch that keeps track of my menstrual cycle and ovulation days. With my daughter, I went off birth control and I was pregnant the month after. With this one, we practically just thought about it and BAM!

Lol, seriously though, each time I knew exactly the best time to have sex. We also were in the mindset that it might take a while and if it happens, it happens.

my daughter wasn't planned so when we wanted to started "trying" for number 2 I had no idea how to do so besides obviously "doing it!" lol so I kept track of my periods how long they were, when they started, and when they finished. I checked out a website called ovulationcalcuator.com and I started panning our pregnancy :D there are a LOT of websites out there that will help tell you when you are more fertile and the first month I started using one we fell pregnant! It took 3 months of no birthcontrol total and I'm now 14 weeks today :D good luck and don't get stressed if it doesn't happen as fast as you want it to!!

I just wondered if there is an actual board here on Circle of Mom's that is specifically geared to those of us that have been "actively trying" to get pregnant for a length of time? I would love to talk daily to other women that are going through the same thing as I? Thank-you! Lisa

well with our first we started having unprotected sex for about 9 months and had decided that for whatever reason it just wasn't happening and that we would just stop, then surprise surprise She was concieved, after my daughter was born we just threw caution to the wind and said whatever happens happens and didn't use any method of contraception, then 2 years later wham im preggers, im due apr 3rd, and my daughter turns 3 in july. i think it took a little bit longer for me the second time because after my first pregnancy my periods were irregular so i was probably ovulating irregularly also.everyones different but have fun tryng, after all its the best part!

For our 2nd baby, it took me and my husband two tries. It was well worth the trying and the result. I now have a 5 month old baby boy :)

6 years and a few more fertility Dr's than I care to think about. Numerous Dr's saying it is not going to happen and we now have two :) If you are trying do not listen to Dr's , IVF Florida was a God Send to us.

My daughter took us 3 months. I'm glad I didn't have to be preggo for very much of the summer (got pregnant in mid July). My husband and I have just started trying again. It'll probably take several months given I am primarily breastfeeding, just got off the minipill, and haven't started my period yet.

with my daughter - 2 weeks. But we didn't use ANY protection after our son because we knew we wanted another but he's almost 2 and we just now got pregnant again.

After 18 months, I saw a nutritionist and looked up some stuff online. I started drinking Nettle tea by Alvita. I got pregnant a month later. Happily expecting right now and I'm still drinking my tea.

I think it depends on your age, but if it has been more than a year I would go see a Dr. I feel like everyone says stress doesn't help, but it took me 5 years and a miscarriage to have my twins. I was not stressed at all until about 2 years in. For me, people saying "just relax" made me more stressed :) I had to have IVF for unexplained reasons, I can get pregnant on my own and did, but it didn't last, needed help for my twin miracles. :) It will happen for you, but if you are worried...go see a Dr., if only for peace of mind. Good luck.

Both of our kids took over three years to conceive. Earlier this year I found out I have PCOS which makes getting pregnant not easy, so at least I now know why it took so long! I keep hoping for more kids, but it's been six years since the last one was born... and haven't conceived a third one yet. I keep hoping. We don't use any form of birth control, never have.

Both pregnancies were unexpected. The first time, I had given up hope and then suddenly got pregnant! The 2nd time we weren't trying or hoping because the first one took so long, so we weren't sure we could have more.

Our first was a complete surprise about 8 years after we married. We had tried for a couple years before finding out that smoking does bad things to your sperm count. My husband took long enough to quit thaty I completely forgot THAT could happen.
We started trying again for about a year when she was about 2. Then tried not to for 2 years. Then tried again for another year and the first month I started trying not again there was baby number 2.
I'm just lucky I guess.
If you are anxious and your husband doesn't mind, go get fertility tested. He's likely to be more embarrased than you, but his tests will be much less invasive. Most fertility problems are much easier to fix if they are found early.
Good Luck

Less then 2wks. Most birth controls dont work on me, so I not only conceived one but two the second time around in about the same span. If I were a super woman I would be Twitterpaded, the super furtile mom!

It took my husband and I almost a year with my first son when we were actively trying to conceive. My doctor said that any longer than a year and she would have sent me to a specialist. I was taking Clomid so I would ovulate, but actually didn't take it the month I did get pregnant. With my second child, it took about nine months.

Immidiately for me. There are 5 years between my children and I wanted it that way so it worked out great for me. There is exactly 5 years and 2 weeks between my kids. There is not as much jelousy between them as I see with children born closer together. Then again I have seen some moms have their babies really close together ad the kids get along great.

Our first was the first try, our second was the second try. I actually planned my 2nd pregnancy around my doctor`s holiday schedule so that she could be there. (Was on holidays the first time & bad things happened) I read a book called `How to get pregnant naturally` and it taught me how to pinpoint ovulation. As soon as your discharge goes to like an egg white consistency you`re ovulating so hop to it. Worked for us, good luck!

All four of mine came easy for me. I was really lucky. They were all one time except the last one which was 2 times. But I have a bad reaction to BC so I was never on the pill and I have always been able to tell when I ovulate so I'm sure that made all the difference in the world. They say when you are stressing about it it takes longer. I know it's hard not to but relax and it will happen, I'm sure:) Good luck!

It took me and my now Fiance 2 months to get pregnant. Again not trying but not stopping it either i know it sounds weird but it was a surprise!!! and its funny cuz he had a feeling ( he says he knew) way befor ei even suspected anything!! i just had her in July and we do want more! i havent had my period yet so probably wont happen any time soon. but whenever it does will be great :) my fiance's brother and his wife had their first baby two years ago and they have been actively trying for their second since the first and nothing but she thinks she is pregnant now. i really thought it was pretty easy to get pregnant but i guess thats not the way with everyone. seriosuly stress is what is most likely stoppin it have u talked to a doctor? is everything good if so then relax and enjoy the fun!!

It took my husband and I 4.5 years to conceive with our daughter. We even went to a fertility doctor for 2 years. Finally, it happened. ♥ I do feel like we appreciate her a whole lot more. It'll happen. It's hard to be patient. I would get depressed because it was something that I wanted so bad and wanted for so long. When you least expect for it to happen is when it will. I was totally in shock, even though we were trying.

With my first...it was 1st try! lol We were trying, but just assumed we wouldn't get pregnant for at least 6 months (which is pretty average). This second time around though, we thought we'de get pregnant right away, after a year of trying and worrying and stressing, we decided that the next month I would go back ont he pill and we'de try again later...next month rolled around and no period...pregnant. I hear a lot of people say to just relax and as soon as you stop trying or stop worrying it just happens...which was the case with us.

it can depend on what birth controll you had been on if you were on any.... i knwo of someone who was a baby making machine who went on the pill for a year... it then took a year off of that to get pregnant...
