how many hours is decent enough for a nap without going on for too long.

most 2 1/2 year olds sleep for between 1.5-2.5 hrs for a nap once a day, however i know kids who sleep for 3 or more, and still sleep 11-12 hrs at night. My son is 2yrs 3mths and sleep 2-2.5hrs normally, up to an hour long if he is unwell. and he sleeps 11 hrs at night.

When my son was young like that, I was told that he shouldn't sleep more than 5 hours without eating. At this time, he would sleep 5+ hours at night (sometimes). I tried to listen to the doc, and woke my son up ONCE! At that age, (unless it becomes obsessive and she is losing weight), I say let children sleep as long as they want/need to!

Sometimes kids nap for 3 hours when they are down to one nap a day but it should never go beyond 43 to 4 PM or they will be up pretty late at night. kids need to be away about 4 to 5 hours prior to their bed time. I want my kids to be sleeping no later than 7:30 PM so I make sure they do not nap past 3:00 pm

At that age I would wake my daughter up every 4 hours to feed. She was also having a hard time gainning weight so waking her up was a neccesity.

I agree with most of the others....NEVER wake a sleeping baby! If they are hungry, they will wake up!

I let my kid sleep as long as he wanted to. I've never woken him from a nap unless it's to go to something important and there's no one else here to watch him. And he's 1.

At that age, my son was pretty much sleeping for 2-3 hours, waking to feed, awake for maybe half an hour, then back to sleep. 24/7. Sometimes he'd stay awake longer but I never woke him up for anything. Are you kidding me? LOL That's when I'D sleep too lol

my concern is what if she goes too long where she doesn't eat much during the day cause of naps?

I would let her sleep as long as she needs to. I would NEVER wake a sleeping baby if I didn't absolutely have to. I let my 14 month old wake up by herself and same for my 4.5 year old for the most part. Babies know how much sleep they need, if they don't get enough then they are over tired and stay awake because they are wound up and cranky.

How long does she sleep for? It's normal for a newborn to sleep up to 18 hours in 24 hours. Usually during the day they will not stay awake more than an hour to an hour and a half before sleeping again.

I personally wouldn't wake a newborn unless you are having issues with weight gain. Unless once again it is an extreme time frame like 8 hours etc.

Until they wake up by themselves, sometimes they need extra sleep they maybe fighting off a bug or going through a growth spurt. Unless it is really excessive I would let them sleep.

That totally depends on age.
