Not very many. I do stack the dishwasher, load the washing machine, change the sheets, wash the sheets, vacuum, mop, clean the bathroom and toilet and wipe the windows and doors where Logan has touched them with sticky hands, clean the shower on Mondays. The rest of the week just laundry if and when it needs to be done and the dishes and wiping up spills, reorganising cupboards etc. A clean house is a sign of a wasted life.

I have four children. Boys age 4,5,7 and a girl she 13. I home school the youngest and oldest children. my husband is a tattoo artist and works out of town from Friday until Tuesday, so he's only home three days per week. I work part time, run s nonprofit agency on the side...time I'd e extremely limited lol. Id day that I clean about 6 hours each day...and Mondays I clean for about 12 hours straight. it seems like a lot but really isn't that bad. The house is large so it takes s lot of time to get it perfect! I'd love to be able to spend less time cleaning, but haven't found a way to do so and still have it look good. I guess I'm a bit of s perfectionist ...but hey, its important to me that everything be in order and clean.

HOURS? I just get it in a few min here and there, so i dont know the total, but hours? Man between my 5 month old son and the dog i dont really have much time to clean. And my house is small so all noises are heard throughout the house, my boy will sleep through alot if hes tired, but sometimes he needs his nap so i really cant do anything, but if i had a bigger house thered be more to clean! Id love to get in two hours a day, my house would be sparkling

I'd have to say probably about 3-4 hours a day. More if I've had a slack day.

It's hard to say exactly how long I clean everyday as I do it through out the day but I'd say 4-5 if I added it all up. I could relax a bit but I like to have a clean space and with 2 small children if I don't keep up with it my house can look like a bomb went off in a matter of a day.

Just thought I'd share this. I am reading a book called "I'm trying to sit at his feet, but who's going to cook dinner?" I love one incredible point she made in the book. When you spend all your time cooking and cleaning and preparing, you begin to resent the ones you serve. Where if you do what is needed, but make sure you take out the time to just be with them and listen and have fun, you will be much happier. I've started to cut back on my cleaning big time to give this a try. I take one day a week and make sure the floors are clean and the toilet is scrubbed. I still wash laundry a couple times a week and of course dishes everyday. I've cut back on my cleaning a lot! I may do 2-3hrs one day a week and just what is needed to get us through to the next week the rest of the time, and a lot of my stress has gone. I could care less if the floor has dirty foot prints on them. I stopped worrying about the hand prints on the tv and the hall mirror. I now spend more time with my kids than what I do with the vacuum cleaner. No, if someone comes to my house, I won't get an award for it being the cleanest, and *gasp* they might even see some dirt or something out of place, but it is totally worth it!

My wife spends almost no time cleaning and it almost gave me a break down. I sent her to the office so I can deal with it. It takes about 5 to 6 hours per day to make it clean enough for an average person.

I clean everyday from the time I wake-up till I go to bed. I clean about 6-8 hours a day. I do take breaks though and watch tv and check my facebook account but other than that I'm always cleaning and cooking.

Humm...well what is counted as cleaning? I always get my kids to clean up their toys before I sweep, or they end up in the dustpan and then onto the garbage. (It's a great motivator) The main floor of our house is all laminate and linoleum so that helps. On a usual day...I do some laundry (I guess it's cleaning clothes), tidy up, wipe down the main areas, tidy my kitchen as I go, sweep and mop, clean different living areas as needed, dishes. My day pretty much consists of just picking up after every little thing. It's time consuming. I'd say I spend around 2-3 hours a day, and about 2 hours of that is picking up after everyone lol

MMM.. I have an avg. to small size house & it's a ranch. It takes me from start to finish about 2 hours to clean! I do laundry, load/start dishwasher. Vacuum everyday. Sweep the floor daily & mop 2-3x a week. I tidy the bathroom daily & deep clean 2x a week. I would say I'm not obsessed but, I do like a relatively clean house.. ! Also, I do cleaning/maintance at my part-time job & on avg. I spend 5 hrs. of cleaning at work.. So, I try to keep up w/ it as much as possible at home.. !

I would say about 1 and that is stretching it. It is probably closer to 25-30 min. But I have about a 900 sq foot apartment. I also don't count cooking, as I don't see that as a chore.

General every day cleaning is done within 2.5 hours per day, I have a system and my kids are pretty good helpers. Once a week i spend about an extra 2 hours in one room to do a "deep" clean. I also have to mention that my kids are propbably older than most of your kids on here my youngest is 4 and well past the age of terrible messes.

umm.. 1? Lol but once a week everything gets scrubbed down and once a month everything the once a week schedule didnt hit, gets done. I do laundry when I need to. I minimalized so dishes only take me 15 minutes now if ALL are dirty, and if ALL my sons and mines clothes are dirty it is only 3 loads. This has helped immensely. So I'm going to try to get my entire house in order and minimalized so that I can keep up this 1 hour a day, general routine.

I only spend about an hour cleaning each day and I get Xan (who is 2 1/2) involved helping with things too, like dusting and laundry. Hubby also pitches in, which is great.

What is counted as cleaning anyway? Like window washing, vacuuming, mopping? Is picking up toys really cleaning?

wow a lot of you ladies do some hardcore cleaning...makes me wonder how messy ur kids are??? i am home all week so it is spread out. mondays i do laundry and vacuum. then do dishes in the evening before hubby gets home. picking up toys all day since i have a toddler but mostly one big clean up before bed. bathrooms and sheets are once or twice a month as needed. i guess i am relaxed but i have only gotten compliments from people that my house is always neat.

I spend maybe an hour a day cleaning. I usually pick up the random stuff throughout the day and then "deep clean" one room every day. For example - Monday is the living room. vacuum, dust, clear and clean tables. Tuesday is Kitchen. Sweep, mop, clear and clean tables, clean out the fridge, etc. It makes it a lot easier!

Annie - what is this Bissell sweep and steam you speak of? 3 rooms including moving furniture - sounds great!

Well if you count everything, like laundry, dishes, putting clothes away, wow, um.... Maybe 2 hours a day on days I work and about 4 on days I dont. I dont really think of dishes, laundry, wiping benches etc as "cleaning", I think of scrubbing shower grout as "cleaning" so I was initially going to say about 7 hours per week, but when I think of all the daily stuff its a lot more. I do laundry and unload dishwasher as soon as I get up every morning. Fold and put laundry away before bed and do one other thing after work like vacuum and mop or clean bathroom basin or toilet.

I think for me it all depends on the day and if my oldest is home, If both boy's are at home I tend too do alittle less until the night time after bed, Unless any big messes are made and the days he is in school I will do more during the day like mopping ect....Im alittle slower these days now Im 8 months pg lol

I tend to clean mostly when both of my kids are sleeping, otherwise it's really not worth it. There are certain things when I clean my almost 3yr old son will "help" with so it takes me 4x's longer to do it than if I did it on my own but at least he is learning. But I will go in spurts where I get really anal about the cleaning and will scrub everything most of the day.

I am a little anal to say the least. I have learned to relax a little, but I pretty much clean all day when we are home. I try to do a little every day so that everything is always clean. I asked for a Bissell sweep and steam for valentines day. I can get my dinning room, kitchen living room and bathroom done in 20 minutes. Thats including moving the furniture. It is a little expensive, but totally worth it!

I take about 4-5 hours cleaning when I'm not interupted and then it's not even clean enough for me.lol.I think it depends on how big your house is and how many children you have with you =)

I clean about an hour every day.....and my house is not messy, I just have a theory to my madness and my four year old cleans his and his sisters room and play area so there is most of the mess right there. I can't spend so much time cleaning.....I also don't count the laundry because I probably spend 10 min a day folding and washing.

i spread my cleaning out during the week as im home all the time mondays i vac and mop after partner has been home all weekend walking in crap, tuesdays i tend to have a break and do just general stuff, wednesdays i try to do toliet and bathroom and general stuff, thursdays i like to have car so i can get out of house before i go insane lol!!!! so just general stuff, fridays i change all beds sheets and general stuff and weekend i spend with son and partner and just do all washing which on average is 4-5 loads i wont let the other half hang the washing out as he stretches them but he does bring them in for me we share the cooking and i always do the dishes the next morning along with sterilising bottles. 2hrs a day id say for cleaning and every few hours i will tidy up toys and make lounge room look neat im a clean freak and i know you mums are going to think im crazy but i enjoy cleaning most of the time!!!!! its rewarding and self satisfying, whats that say..not much of a life lmao!!!!!!!!!

[deleted account]

I clean about 2 1/2 hours a day, if you don't count laundry. I spend 15 minutes in every room then I'm done. If it gets messed up after that, I don't bother until the next day, except for the kitchen, which I clean while I cook dinner, then straighten after we eat.
That said, I live in a really small house, and my bathrooms are okay if I clean them every other day, so I just clean one of those each day.

I clean a minimum 4 hours a day.
That includes the dishes, laundry, and sweeping/vacuuming/ moping.
I'm sure if I tried to calculate general tidying then the amount I spend cleaning would be almost all day.

I can't live in a messy house. I can not relax knowing that there are things to do.

If it was straight cleaning with no interruptions, I'd say about 3-4 or more. Of course, I never get to clean that way, so it is incredibly hard to say for sure. Since I finally got a dishwasher 2 weeks ago, that has probably taken an hour off of the time too.
