I'm shocked at how many moms are putting cleaning and chores before sleep in priorities!!! Getting less then 7 hours of sleep a night on a regular basis SHORTENS your LIFE!!! And the less sleep you get the shorter your life expectancy gets.
So put your LIFE ahead of your cleaning and get some sleep!!
It's really important to sleep enough. I'm not kidding, lack of sleep causes so many diseases and conditions and ups your risk for so many life threatening problems.
Please moms, make sleep a priority! 8-9hours for adults under 25 and 7-8 hours for adults 26-50 and back up to 8-9 hours 51+.
get some sleep!

I have a 9 month old daughter and a 4 year old son.My 9 month old is still breastfed and she wakes up anywhere from 2 to 5 times a night. My son usually only wakes up once or twice to go to the bathroom or because he's thirsty. All in all I get about 3-4 hours of actual sleep.

I have 4 kids aged 6,5, 2 1/2 and a 7mth old. The baby has started sleeping through the night fairly regularly. I go to bed right after I put the kids down to get as much time in bed as possible! Sometimes it's 9 hrs, sometimes it's 6. I'm pregnant with #5 and have started up and down w/ that, so I'm guessing I'll never sleep again! LOL! I've always had a bedtime ritual for my kids and we've been doing it for almost 7 years. It works really well for my family and I will stick with it as long as it does! Good luck! (I have a magnet on my fridge that says 'I'll sleep when I'm dead.")

I'm a brand new SAHM. I couldn't tell you in too much detail, but I put my 9 day old son down around 8:30 or 9pm for the night. he then wakes up 3 - 6 times throughout the night to breastfeed, but then sleeps until 9:30 or 10:30am. Then he continues to eat and sleep in 3 to 5 hour intervals throughout the day. I'm a mommy on meds for a migraine condition. So God knew I needed a baby who sleeps so I can get my sleep.

I usually sleep around 8-9 hours a night but it depends on whether I've been at work. My girls are both good sleepers, usually getting 12-13 hours a night so I'm fortunate that if I feel tired I can get an early night knowing that they won't wake up in the night, or get up before 7 the following morning.

Depending on when I go to bed about 6-10hrs. Sometimes I like to stay up late while both kids are in bed :) My 3 year old sleeps from 9pm-9am and my 5 month old sleeps from 8pm-9am.

Hi, I have a 2 yr old and a 3 1/2 yr - on average I used to sleep 5 or 6 sometimes less. Once I' ve been woken up I usually can't get back to sleep. So I have now decided to go to bed not long after them. They are usually both down by 7pm - 7-30 so I'm going around 8-30, watch a little TV then crash. Husband works away so its easy to go to bed early and I have to admit I now get 7 or 8 its great.

I get between 5-6 hours a night. Sometimes interrupted. My youngest is almost 2 and some nights she has screaming sessions where she falls asleep for 10-20 minutes then wakes up screaming. That can last up to 4 hours. Makes for long nights and even longer days!

I have a two year old daughter and she often doesn't get up in the morning until 11. So I usually go to bed around midnight and sleep in until about nine or until she wakes me up. So I guess I get about nine to ten hours of sleep. But then I only have one child and she takes after me with liking to sleep.

I stay home all day, but I do inhome daycare. I have 4 fulltime kids who come as early as 6am, and stay as late as 11pm. I have 4 kids of my own who are almost 7, 4, almost 3, and almost 2. My 2 oldest go to school and have to get up and get dressed, eat breakfast and get out the door to catch the bus in time. And my daughter has to be driven to school by 9am because the busses don't come to our small town 10min from town. needless to say I get to bed about midnight and am up by 5am. So ya not much sleep here! I've gotten used to having to drink coffee every morning until at least noon!! It helps get me through the toughest part of the day!

i have 3 kids and none of them slept/sleep well. My oldest is nearly 6 and he still wakes sometimes, as does my 3 year old who also likes to get up anywhere from 5.30am and i have a 7month old too who wakes about every hour. if he sleep for 2 huors straight, thats a good night for me!!
But i guess, as mums, we do what we have to, and know it wont last forever!

LOL. This is good question. I have 2 boys age 4.8 and 2.9 yo. Both of them sleep all through the night. There's occasionally waking up because need some cuddles. Both of them sleep by themselves. Before this both of them sleep with me and hubby. So now since no one is kicking my face or need any milk or change diapers. I still cannot sleep up to 8 hours. I usually wait until 2am if both of them need something in the middle of the night. I still cannot sleep like I use to since I gave birth to them until now. I am like a zombie.

With a 6 yr old and a 8 yr old you think I would get more sleep then I do. Right now I get about 5 to 6 hours a night. We are up by 7:30am to get ready for school and work for me, and I get to bed around 12 to 1 am (or sometimes later). My days go by fast and I never understand why they just zoom right by. Kids are in bed by 8 and so that give me time to myself and not to mention time with my husband without kid interruption. I know this isn't normal and I've always had trouble sleeping but this is what my body does. Good luck with your sleep hope yours works out better for you.

Anywhere from 5-11 hours per night. My daughter has tummy troubles, and sometimes has a restless night. But when she sleeps, she SLEEPS. Last night we slept 11 hours straight. It was wonderful.

hi, im sally im a mom of 2, i too went through that same thing . my kids are teens now but irecently found out that i have a sleeping disorder, turns out i dont get enough sleep at all. so on my best nights i get 6 hours of sleep, and onmy bad nights i only get up to 4 hrs at most, so it really depends. but as your son gets older he will start sleeping more at night. try to read for awhile, and when you start to get drowsy you'll be able to sleep, if that dont work there are other things you can do to help you relax enough to sleep. good luck on getting there

I'm a stay at home mom of a 2 1/2 year old and an almost 4 year old. I get AT LEAST 7 hours. We have a good schedule so we know what to expect. My kiddos go to bed at 8:30 and they don't get up until about 8. If they wake up sooner they know to stay in their beds until they see sunlight or I'm done with my morning work out. I think that if you get on a schedule if you aren't already, it will be easier for everyone. If you wake up at night, I would try cutting caffeine or try having a winding down time before bed.

I have a 5 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. I try to get at least 8-9 hours of sleep a night. That is sometimes interrupted by the kids, but not for too long. If I don't get that much at night I will try to squeeze in a short nap while my son is napping the next day. This may sound lazy, but I have found I am much more productive when my body and mind are fully rested! You can never underestimate a good nights sleep!

I always go to bed around 10 or 11 but I can very rarely get to sleep before midnight or 1.. then my 10 month old baby wakes up between 7 and 8 usually. so between 6 and 8 hours most nights. Sometimes less when I can't get to sleep until 2... 3... even 4. It drives me nuts.

I'm also a stay at home mom with a two year old and I have one on the way. He is a good sleeper; sleeps from 8pm-7 or 7:30. So that helps me get enough sleep especially for being pregnant and taking care of a very active toddler. I get on average 8-9 hours of sleep.

my 4 month old sleeps from about 10:30pm to 9 or 10 am. If she were my only child I would get tons of sleep. My son wakes up at about 8 or 830 am. So I still am getting quite a bit. We co-sleep so I don't really know how often my daughter wakes up at night. I don't wake up enough that it affects me. I just stick a boob in her mouth and go back to sleep lol.

I get between 4-6 hours a day. In between volunteering at the school full time, then after school activities, dinner, bath, homework, chores after they go to bed...I push the limit, but I have been doing it for so long that my body works on little sleep. I do however, find that every few weeks my body needs a good rest and that is when I go to sleep early and get a good 12 hours + sleep. My daughters are 6 and soon to be 9 and we are a very active family. I spend most nights getting caught up with my agenda for the next several days.

But once they go to bed, my day really begins - cleaning up the house for the ennnthtime time and then I own my own business so I work on order and paperwork until about 2 am... back up at 7am for school. So on a good night 5 hours. Ughhhh just sounds horrible when you actually put it in writing! LOL

I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old. Luckily my 5 month old is a great sleeper and sleeps late. Usually 7:30 am-8 am. My son has always been an early riser until lately who would wake up at 6 am. Just this year he started sleeping until 6:30am-7am. Also he plays in his room now that he's in a toddler bed until about 7:30am. I go to bed around 11:30 pm and fall asleep by say about 12. So I would generally say I get about 7.5 hours. Although for the last 2 weeks my daughter has been night waking for an extra feed. I find if I sleep any more than 7.5 hours I feel miserable and tired all day. I find about 6.5 hours I do my best at, I have tons of energy! I'm a morning person which is great luck when you have little ones. I have the most energy in the morning even if I only got 4-5 hours of sleep that night. Regardless, I'm bouncing off the walls in the morning... I get everything cleaned for the day and everything/one preped and ready for the day. From about 6:30 am-12 and then I relax for the rest of the day! Well of course a mother's definition of relaxing is much different from anyone else's. ;)

i have a 2year old daughter and at the most on a preschool day i'd get at least like 5-6 hours of sleep but other than that usually 10hours of sleep which i dont really like, been trying to get onto a better sleeping schedule with getting to bed early and waking up early and enjoying the day rather than the night when everybodys sleeping, the preschool days for my daughter are mond-fri 8am-9:30am and those days i either make sure to have coffee or energy drinks lol, but i know as a nursing mom means you cant have too much coffee and cant have energy drinks, but every mom with any amount of kids have different sleep schedules, my daughter gets more sleep than me though lol, i dont mind it because she needs it more and theres just thoughs days when i cant seem to get to sleep
