I do. home cooked meals are better then frozen dinner trays. but when your husband works at a fast food place its hard to make lunch for him but he has home cooked dinners waiting on him each evening

We have a very limited budget and sadly we live mainly of that "frozen crap" but I do try and cook when I get a chance or happen to have all the ingredients to make something which is rare. I have however had a chance lately to make some good home cooked meals. I made a giant beef stew, enough to feed the 3 of us for a good couple days. I also decided we will only eat baked goods that we make ourselves, and so far I've made 2 awesome crumbles and several variations of brownies all with spelt flour and they are pretty darn good. =)

I make his lunch everyday and i make dinner every other night his dad lives with us since his wife passed away and doesnt want to be alone.... if i dont let him cook too he gets mad sayin that he feels useless not doing anything. P.s. ALL the meals i fix him are from scratch

If you define "cooking" as everything from scratch, then that would be like once a week. Usualy Sunday dinner is a big one in our house. On a daily basis, I do cook a home cooked meal (not from a box) but I make it easy on myself by using bottled marinades and packaged spices, fresh or frozen veggies that I add sauces to or whip up a quick salad. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my crock pot and use that at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. Our favorites are Chicken Noodle Soup, Beef Stews, Roasted Red Pepper Turkey Chili, Pot Roast w/ veggies and Pulled Pork. As for lunches, the kids get packed lunch (no school food except on occasion) and my husband will take leftovers if he wants to but usually he'll eat at the DFAC. I love cooking but I have tons of other stuff to do w/ 4 kids and I don't want to spend half my day in the kitchen LOL. I also bake from scratch like cookies & cakes but lately I've been addicted to Pampered Chef Beer Bread and I've been mixing all kinds of things into the mix. My friend loves me 'cause I keep buying the Beer Bread from her LOL.

I cook every night, unless my hubby wants pizza or take out. I do make homecooked meals 98% of the time, sometimes ive just had a crappy day or dont feel good so its chili dogs or soup and sandwich or something like that. My husband makes his own lunch, ive offered many times to make his lunch or get up and make him breakfast but he says no, he like what he makes for breakfast and lunch and leaves dinners to me, although he does help if i ask him to, at least by playing with our son so i can dedicate my time to cook and clean as i go. I think cooking dinner for my hubby is one way to show im i appreciate him and it helps us eat healthier!

I can see if you our stay at home mom sometimes its easier to cook every night like I said sometimes, I have always loved to cook and really miss it due to My husband is not home all week so its just me and my 5 yr old which makes it alot easier to whip up something quick. I have never been a fan of take out. So I am always looking for fast fix it meals.Its great when you have time to cook a weeks worth of meals on the weekend also which is time consuming too. As for making my husband lunch I miss that too. Brandi you are a Wonderful wife & your husband sees the love you have for him way to go.

Im 23 and most of my friends aren't married so when i say i cook dinner for my husband every night they think Im crazy but i enjoy cooking and it gives me something to do besides the same boring stuff i always do such as cleaning. yes, because my son is only 4 months old i do have to keep the meals simple and fast but my husband enjoys my cooking and i enjoy doing it for him.

I try and cook as often as possible, but we live in a caravan and I have a stove and a sink with sfa bench space. I would like to cook its just difficult in a confined space with a 2 yr old underfoot.

I dont do it EVERY day, tho I used to, but my friend does. EVERY DAY SOMETHING NEW and her husband WILL NOT touch leftovers from the night before... NOT EVEN from the Lunch she made for him that day. Also, he will not eat soups or ANY warm dishes in the summer or cold dishes in the winter. Try getting a husband like that! lol My poor poor friend.

Yeah, my SO works nights and gets his dinner at work for his staff meal. So, sending food with him to work would be a waste as his restaurant is very high end and the food is way better than anything I could cook.

He also loves to cook and is very good at it. So, you know I let him do it. We make most everything at home and don't go out much to eat. He makes meals for the week on his days off or afternoons off usually.

Cooking is really his job, he is better at it and enjoys it way more than I do.

it depends on work and school sceduals. i am a full time student and my boyfriend works so if he has to be at work for 5 am i usually make lunch the night before so i dont have to wake up till i need to. as for supper if he is off work before i am done school he will cook for the three of us

I cook for my husband 2-3 times a week, i do cook 6-7 days a week but very little for my husband as he works away from home and is only around a few days a week!

I do most nights, but it depends on how I feel. I am 8 months pregnant and not having an easy time with it. I try to do little things like that to show my appreciation for him. It is not because I feel I need to, but because he works so hard for this family (which is blended) and I want him to know how much we love him.

i do for the most part. but i am 8 months preg with reallly bad sciatia pain. so some nights we eat cooked meals, but just not large and fresh. like maybe canned veggies and stuff. tonight we had salisbury steak with gravy and rice, corn and sweet potatos, and brocc cheese pasta side. it was delish!

Living in a family of 5 i try to cook a healthy meal every night, i do it more for my kids than my partner as for his lunch he gets up earlier than me so he's on his own! I use to do it all the time then i realised i'm not his mother he's a grown man and can do it himself - there was nothing stopping him. I have friends who insist on doing it all for their husbands and it works for them and their relationship so if it works for you and your family keep up the good work!

I don't cook and haven't for 18 years of marriage.Yet,my hubby wants me to cook all of a sudden now because he is working at a job where there is cooking.I told him why now?We are starting to grow apart because of this job too.He has always done the cooking for 18 years,and wouldn't like what i made and complain,so I stopped.

well i cook dinner and breakfast every day but not lunch i only cook breakfast on the weekends for my husband beccause he gets up at 400am in the morning to go to work and for me to get up and fix breakfast i would have to get up at 3 and im sorry i love my husband but I DONT THINK SO im not getting up at 3 in the morning just for a half an hr then wake up at 7 with my kids lol but i cook home cooked meals every night for my family.

I try.....it's almost impossible to send him with a lunch everyday though since he works outdoors and gets sick of sandwiches. So I really try and make sure he gets a good dinnerat night, but again I never know when he will be home so sometimes it's hard to make sure it's ready when he walks in.

Do what works for you, your family and your marriage. Do what makes you happy and whats best for your family and if parents or inlaws point out something before you otherwise pointed it out yourself chances are its probably fine and not requiring change :)

I also make my husband lunches, dinners and even snacks later on in the evening. I also make my twin girls slightly different meals than what he eats and I prepare seperate meals for myself as well.
For my circumstances and my situation I feel that making food is the LEAST I can do for my husband after hes working hard all day and doesnt get a break till he comes home for a 30 minute lunch where he should be sitting not cooking.
I do this every day without hesitation or hostile feelings. I feel marriage is give a little get a little I like doing things for my husband ESPECIALLY if he doesnt ask or tell me to, I do it because I love him and I like to make his life easier but if he made his own food it would have much less nutritional value which I'd hate to see. My husband will also comes home from work and helps me with the twins and plays with them or will help me clean if I needed him to. Everyone is different but I feel this works for us and we are happy with the way things work out and I encourage others to try there own different strategies to find a happy median in spouse roles.(PS. Parents have a awful funny way of suggesting, giving advice and tampering in things with the best intentions)

I make a home made lunch for my hubby everyday!! Dinner... for the most part is homemade but we do get out to eat from time to time as well. My in laws always tell my hubby that he has it good. (my father in law does ALL the cooking!)

I work on Saturday nights and we eat out once a week (give or take, sometimes it is once every 2 weeks), so besides that I pretty much cook homemade dinners the other 5 nights. Now, that isn't always the case. I will throw in a hamburger helper or encore every so often, but usually I make: meatloaf, shepard's pie, chili, chicken and potatoes in the crock, homemade tuna helper, chicken pot pie... I don't like to do house work, but I love cooking and baking!! I would seriously love to make everything homemade if it was less expensive to buy separately. I do not make his lunch, though. He usually throws a bunch of snacks together and sometimes if we buy lunch meat he'll make a sandwich. But he doesn't like if the sandwiches are made the night before, so that means I can't make them for him, unless I get up at 5 AM to make them. Ummm, no. It would be easy to pack him a lunch if he had a microwave available, so he could do leftovers, but he builds houses and they don't have a microwave in their trailer. Also, he is a big boy, he can pack his own lunch.



If I am extremely tired and we don't have the money to order out or anything fast to make, my husband will cook and it is mainly breakfast for dinner, but I don't mind, because he is amazing at breakfast foods. He usually is a big grill fanatic in the summer, but we really haven't had the money to buy charcoal so we haven't done much yet. He is very good at whipping up his own dinner recipes whereas I usually have to follow a recipe. I do make breakfast everyday (except Sunday mornings when I work) for our son.

I have at least 4 kids , 2 - 6 yr old boys twins and 2- 3 yr old boy girl... that I have all week all day... so nope I can not get my life organized enough to do so at least thru the summer and in the fall he works such weird hours well it never works out.. :-s

I do most nights, don't do lunch though. He's the stay-at-home parent right now so he is in charge of lunchtime at home and usually we make the school/work lunches together at night. I enjoy cooking though, if it were left up to him to cook it would be Spaghetti O's and chicken nuggets :S

I cook about 5 nights a week. Sometimes its easy food like tacos and other times it more complex like ham, sweet potatoes, mac & cheese, dinner rolls. All from scratch no canned or boxed stuff here. Usually Sunday dinner is a big dinner and other dinners through out the week are smaller, easier meals. We do get a pizza or have frozen dinners one to two nights a week, cuz as a working form home mother I have a lot of responsibilities and a husband that only knows how to cook eggs doesn't help me much. I'm teaching my daughter to cook meals so she cooks something once a week.

my husband cooks for the family! he really enjoys cooking and it's been this way since we first moved in with eachother lol.
i do the frozen crap when he's working and i have to feed the kids. something quick and easy. he only works on the weekends (12 hour shifts on sat and sun) and one day durring the week. everytime i have started to cook something, he comes in and starts stirring things and then just takes over lol.
i don't pack a lunch for my husband when he goes to work. it's easier for him just to take a frozen dinner with him or pick something up while he's working. i do bring him left overs when we have them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's "weird"! My kids finally begged me to stop cooking them breakfast and lunch everyday, and hubby says he wants sandwiches 3 times a week. I think mostly it's the heat. My husband doesn't cook at all, he is bad at it! But I'm starting to teach my oldest how. We do almost everything from scratch, but my family loves rice-a-roni, so once a week we eat it with some chicken!

I tend to make dinners 5 days a week and my husband is responsible for the weekend dinners (he is a really good cook). As for sending him with lunches every morning well I tried that but somehow my hard work was never realized because it was always left at the front door or in the fridge. So I quite trying that.

Most nights I cook my family a home cooked meal. The kids get home cooked lunches and breakfast as well. The hubbie works mostly outdoors so leftovers are out of the question for his lunch. We buget in money for his lunches and occasionally if he ask for a sandwich lunch I'm all over it. On the weekend everyone gets breakfast, lunch, and dinner....Homemade!!! :-) Once a friend and I were comparing notes on what we feed our kids for lunch. She looked at me like I had two heads when I said "I made my girls multigrain penne pasta with marinara, glazed carrots, and salad. LOL Her reply was "Geeesh, I give my kid chicken nuggets and french fries and think I deserve nominee for Mother of the year!" LOL I told her that my girls have chicken nuggets days too. Not often but certainly when Mommy is having a rough day.

Well, I cook not only dinner every night and lunch too, but I also make breakfast for him each morning :D I also even make the bread and noodles. I even take his shoes off after work each day and rub his feet :) I think that it shows my daughter that we have a good relationship and it keeps our relationship strong despite the newer distractions :D

As an aspiring chef i take pride in the fact that not only do i cook everynight for my husband and kids but i take the inniciative to try out a new vegie everyweek and i like to think of it as taking them on a culinary adventure. I love all kids of foods and i love that my children and husband appreciate it. especially since most of the time my husband say ater dinner, " babe dinner was amazing, I'll do the dishes" ♥ :)

I cook for my family every night, but we have an arrangement--I cook the meals, and he does the dishes. It's great because I hate doing dishes. He fortunately respects the fact that even though he's going out and working full-time for a paycheck, raising the kids and keeping the house (relatively) in order is work too. So we split those chores. It works out well for both of us. I don't make him lunch though.

I guess I'm lucky. I only have to 'cook' when hubby is not at home. Otherwise he does all the cooking and grilling. In my former life I cooked dinner all the time and I actually grew to hate it, not because I had to cook, but because the man I was married to and his three daughters (when they were there for their weekend visits) would never come to the dinner table when I called them - any of them, father included. I got no respect from him or his three daughters and I resented the fact that I'd worked all day and then had to come home and cook for ungrateful people. I was usually greeted at the door by the oldest (who was 12 at the time) 'what's for dinner?' with the whiny voice and attitude - I'm not making this up, it actually happened almost every day. I worked 40 miles out one way, had to get up before the sun and drive to my pick up place to ride the van - which wasn't the issue. Anyway, I am spoiled now and I prefer it that way. My husband is better at fixing dinner than I am and doesn't get stressed out about it either like I do if I have more than one pan, pot or skillet on the stove. I'll help out by making rice or potatoes or some side dish, but he knows better than to leave everything up to me. I get too flustered and frustrated and generally end up walking away and letting him finish or starving.

I guess I am spoiled since I only have to cook once a week. My husband loves to cook and we do mostly all homecooked. He also makes his own lunches and when our kids go to school he will probably make theirs too :) But I always do my kids breakfast and our lunches. and I prep the food for my husband (veggies cut, potatoes peeled ect.) I also bake and do bread quite often.

I LOVE TO COOK SO MY HUSBAND THAT WORKS 13 HOURS A DAY TO SUPPORT HIS FAMILY DESERVE A GREAT MEAL AND I COOK EVER THING FROM ROAST AND POTATO'S AND VEG TO CHINESE FOOD MY SELF SO I UNDERSTAND WE JUST SHOWING THE LOVE AND SUPPORT OF A LONG HARD DAY I DON'T NEED OR WANT FOR ANYTHING SO WHY NOT COOK LOL
