How many ounces of breast milk should my 2 month old be drinking? I breastfeed my 2 month old son and I pump when I go out and leave it for him in a bottle. How much should he be drinking every 3 hours?

There's no right or wrong answer to how much breast milk a 2 month old should drink :) However much he likes! At 2 months I think my son was drinking 180mL of formula every 2 or 3 hours? Might need more breastmilk than that to keep a baby fed though.

Wow Emma, 180ml is a bit for a 2 month old. Most babies around 8-10 weeks drink about 100mls per feed (about 3.5 ounces). Usually as newborns they drink around 60mls and that increases to around 120mls by 12 weeks.

A general rule of thumb is 150ml per kilo per day. Or 5 ounces per 2.2 pounds of body weight per day (so divide by 8 for 3 hourly feeds).

Leave as much milk as you have, 4 or so ounces should be plenty, and let the baby drink as much as they want.

I had to pump for my baby, and like every baby is different. My DB drank only 75 mls at 3 mths. And my sister's children (both of them only was drinking 4 ozs at a year! and both were thriving.) Don't go by numbers. Go by the fact that he's peeing, and not acting hungry after he's done. If I had listened to the nurses when they calculated ounces per weight for how much he has to eat, we would have never left the hospital LOL
