How to handle cranky, teething, 8 month old baby?

Hey to all... I have an 8 month old baby girl & she has been so cranky & whiny lately. I'm pretty sure it's her 2 top teeth coming in...but I just do not know how to deal with her. I love her so much but she is driving me crazy. Nothing will please her. Any suggestions? At night, I have been giving her Tylenol or nighttime Orajel. She has been doing pretty good during the night except last night was a little rough. I stay at home with her and I am thankful for that, but at times, it's so overwhelming. Thanks.

They also carry gripe water at Meijer, Kroger, and Wal-Mart. Make sure that its free of dyes, that tends to upset baby's sensitive tummy... might make things worse.

Gripe water is supposed to help also. I bought some for my daughters gas and it really helped with that. She hasn't started teething yet, so I don't know if it will work or not. I got my bottle at a health food store, but others have said they found it a walgreens.

When my son started teething my doctor told me this:
Make sure you are giving them the correct dosage of tylenol for their weight. (Most moms, including me at first, either overdose or underdose)
Make sure baby is not too warm. Their temperature elevates slightly when they are teething.
Things to help with the biting are- Frozen waffles (make sure you watch her so she doesn't choke) teething rings, moistened washclothes put in the freezer, and cool water with a small amount of juice in her bottle, the coolness helps her gums.

I know when he was getting teeth it was so heartbreaking... Try rubbing a cool damp cloth on her gums after the orajel.

thanks hope. i had looked for the teething tablets before but the lady told me they had been recalled... ??? i dunno, maybe they are back...i hope so.. if so, i will get them. That is a good idea about the cleanser.. i will need to check that out too.. i will try anything. :)

I know what you mean. My 10month old son is teething and he constantly is chewing on things even me. I have nuk teethers just the right size for little hands to hold. I also tried hylands oral teething gel for babies, and it works better than baby oral gel, which I give to him during the day too. I also will dampen a part of a washcloth and freeze it. He chews on the damp part and holds onto the dry part of it. I also use baby oral gel teething cleanser 2x a day with the baby toothbrush it comes with. This is helping him out a lot. I hope this helps you out some. good luck

The orajel helps even during the day. I found that teethers helped my little one as well as a rattle type thing (it looked like a strawberry. Can find it at walmart or something) and it vibrated when she bit down on it. Helped her a bit as well.
