I don't know what to do...

My daughter turned 4 in June and has been potty trained since early this year. She starts school in a week and about 2 weeks ago has been peeing in her pants 1-3 times a day. This is very unusual so I took her to the doctor today to make sure she didn't have UTI and to make sure all was well. She was fine and had no infections. I have her go to the bathroom all the time and she still had two "accidents" so far today. I am fustrated and don't know if she'll be able to go to school because you are suppose to be full potty trained before you can go. Why after 6 months of no problems would this start up. HELP! Please!

She's been dry for 2 days. I hope the phase is now over. I found that if I stayed positive she stays dry. Maybe she was picking up my stress with going back to school myself.

Being fully potty trained does not mean she will not have accidents, that's why you send them with a change of clothes. Most likely, when she is around the other kids, she will use the potty because all her friends are. Peer pressure really helps with potty training. She may be having more accidents because she is nervous about school, and I'm sure the phase will pass. I would explain the situation to her teacher and you can work together to help her. She won't be the only kid having accidents. Good luck.

Could possibly be worry about starting school and once she's settled in will revert back to being dry... My son has had a couple of accidents and sometimes says he's still a baby but it only seems to be on days when we've shopped for new school things but he seems to be staying dry now (fingers crossed!) and his calling himself a big boy and is quite excited about starting now! Hope this helps and you find the cause. good luck! x

I agree with just about everyone on here. Children do regress and if you don't make a big deal it may disappear a lot faster. What if she's not ready? Could she wait until next year? If it's a rule then it's hard to say what to do about that - but I would definitely make all of it sound fun and try to control your stress level. Our kids know when we are stressed even if we are say everything is okay. So make sure you are in a good place and she should soon follow suit. Until then, make the accidents no big deal and remind her that you know she will work it out at the right time. Pressure is a hard thing for an adult to take much less a little one. :-)

my husband reminded me that my son did the same thing when he started school too. I'm hoping it stops soon. Two weeks of daily accidents is getting fustrating. Especially because I gave all my extra diapers away. I'm thinking of getting some pull ups so there will be less laundry every day but I'm worried that it would encourage her to go in them.

they are doing a culture on her urine right now. Their immediate tests showed nothing though.

Sometimes they regress a little because of a number of factors. She could be nervous about school. Don't make a big deal out of it. Explain to her teacher that she has been doing very well for so long and did regress right before school started so you put a change of clothes in her bag "just in case." Trust me, I'm sure your child wouldn't be the first child to have an accident at school.

Sometimes children do regress back and have a few accidents here and there my daughter is 3 and has been potty trained for 2 years, she has had a few accidents like that also, not to mention the stress of starting school. It sounds to me like it just one of those things that happens to throw you for a loop. Also not to scare you but if you have any diabetics in your family you may want to have her urine checked for sugar spillage it doesn't sound like it but we found out my sister had diabetes when she was 3 because she started having accidents, I'm sure that isn't the case but just in case it continues.
