My son is 2 1/2 and is ready to make the big step from sleeping in a crib to a toddler bed. Ive heard stories about kids refusing to sleep in them and parents out of pure exhaustion, letting them sleep in their beds. Im asking for advice, helpful tips, or whatever you have to give me on how to make this as easy as possible.

My daughter fell asleep fine but had a hard time staying in bed the first night due to her moving around so much. We tried to put pillows and blankets down in case she fell but after the first few nights she stayed in bed. I think it was easy for us because we have a transitional bed and she has been in it since she was born. Also buying a new blanket or pillow for the big boy bed might make it easier to get used to.

Transitional beds (crib to toddler to ...) are great and that's what we have. Ours still found the ability to get in and out super exciting. We just kept putting them back and eventually, they stayed there and went to sleep. It's a great idea to have him help pick out his new bed too.

Your son is old enough to "help" pick out his big boy bed. take him to the store of your choice,or website you will order from and show him 2 or 3 options in your price range,and have him choose.
Also make assembleing his new bed fun,let him hand you the tools or parts to the bed so he feels like he is a part of the whole process and he might be more willing to try it out that first night!

The cribs that turn into a toddler bed was the easiest transition for our youngest. You just remove one of the sides of the crib so they sleep in the same bed. Our other 2 kids transitioned to bigger beds, twin size and our other girl went into to queen size bed. We put the mattress on the floor and it was a little rough at first. There were times where we found our kids sleeping on the floor. Our oldest cried a lot at first but we just let him work it out for himself. Another thing we did is take out all of the toys in their rooms. We just wanted to make sure there wasn't a reason for them to get out of their beds. Good luck!
