Not a problem at all. Thats the only way I got some sleep those first few weeks. Her in the swing, me on the couch.

My son is now 7 months, when we came home from the hospital he would only sleep in the bouncer, that's the only way he would sleep, after a couple of weeks we bought the swing and that's the only place he wanted to be. I felt like a terrible mother and I was worried about it not being good for he's back, until I spoke to the Doctor and he told me not to worry and that he would sleep in the bassinet or crib when he was ready. Now @ 7 months he barely uses the swing anymore and he naps and sleeps in the crib.

I dont think its bad for him. My son is almost 7 weeks old and during the day he naps in either his swing or his rocker. He likes movement and I can't be bouncing him all the time or carrying him in his backpack all the time. I find that I put him in the swing and he's content. Eventually he gives in to his sleepiness and falls asleep. He'll nap for a good 2 - 3 hours in it at a time.

I have three little girls and all of them loved the swing! My middle child who is now 4 slept ONLY in the swing. She would not sleep if she was not in the swing. She would scream & scream & scream. She was even picky about the location. She loved to sleep on the porch!! At night I got used to sleeping in our living room (at the time we had an apartment) right next to her swing which would be by the open windows! Oh and I did I mention she was born December 1st!! So she loved the colder weather!
My youngest would stay in it for hours at a time. I would try to get her interested in her bed(crib) sometimes, but she was happier in the swing. She is now 3! Baby will be fine....keep him snug & warm. Give him lots of love too!

My son is 3 months and he only sleeps well in his swing - he has acid reflux and might be aspirating (doc keeps doin x-rays to b sure) and he congested so easiest to breathe sitting up. Pretty sure when he is older like 6-9months he will adjust to sleepin on back more!

I hear ya!! Sometimes I would sleep in the livingroom(where the swing was) because that's what my son preferred. Once he gets a little older he wont want to sleep as much. My son grew out of his swing, and I didnt know what I was going to do with out it!! Trust me, he'll get over it. Once he starts exploring and learning more and more, he wont even remember his swing

my son is 5 months old and he loves his swing. he was a very difficult baby the first 2 months and that swing helped out so much. he doesnt like to lay on his back except for in the swing. i tihnk he likes the movement. most babies do like movement to help them sleep. he falls asleep in our car too. so whenever u feel comfortable getting him out of the swing wheather it be now or at 6 months old its ur desicon.

When my daughter was an infant we found out that she had GERD/acid reflux. She didn't like to lay flat after a feeding cause she would get this burning sensation in her throat and chest. So she would sleep in her swing during the day and she had a travel swing that i could carry around the house and her bouncy seat too. Sometimes she would sleep in her infant carrier. At night after I would feed her I would prop her in her boppy, that nursing pillow, and wait a half hour unit she fell asleep and then I'd take her out of the boppy and lay her down. I think she was about 12 weeks when she finally started feeling better and could sleep in her own bed.

If he's content I wouldn't worry about it, but you might want to try a nice tight swaddle. He may prefer the swing because its snug and he feels more cozy that way. My daughter also liked to be swaddled really tightly. Baby experts say the tight swaddle mimicks the womb and some babies prefer to feel that close, snuggness rather than the openess of outside the womb.

i wouldnt worry about it my daughter spent alot of time in her swing and in her car seat the first few months at night...i found it helped her sleep better and longer she to also hated being layed flat into a bassinet and since my husband was working nights i was willing to do anything that would keep her happy

My sister-in-law's little boy slept in his swing alot for the first few months. He seemed happy enough and she could get things done around the house. He is 18months old now and full of life.
Every baby is different and if you find something that works for you and your little one then go for it (as long as it is safe, of course).
If you have any concerns don't hesitate to ask your health nurse or gp. I have years of daycare experience (I used to run a babies room) & sometimes I still need the reassurance that I am doing the right thing.
Your instincts led you to use the swing in the first place so keep doing what feels right. You know your baby's likes and dislikes better than anyone else. Sometimes it's just a matter of trial & error but you will find the little tricks that work for your son.
You could use a neck pillow or pad the sides of the swing to ensure he doesn't slump to one side when he sleeps in it.

I would ask the nurse when he gets his first set of shots. I remember them telling me that it's not good for them to sleep in positions like that for some reason or another that i don't remember. My son didn't like sleeping in his bassinet either but we made do. What my son really didn't like as it turned out was being swaddled. He screamed bloody blue murder when I did. I also found that if I burped him after I fed him in the middle of the night he woke up adn then we started the whole process over again so I would nurse him to sleep and then put him down. i usually got about two hours at a time out of it which was enough for me. Good luck!

No, I read somewhere that some babies prefer a slight up right position as oppose to sleeping directly on their backs. My son who is 3mos now has a My Little Lamb
Cradle n Swing and that is his bed. He will not sleep in his bassinet for nothing. I feel as long as it’s safe and your baby likes it then you should do it, because at the end of the day its your sanity that matters.
