Is there anyone who feels like I do when Yo Gabba Gabba comes on you just get dumber by the second watching it, or the voices of Dora and Ruby(From Max and Ruby) are so annoying that you only hope that you child doesn't end up talking like that. There are so many others that tend to bother me too, but those three I would have to say are the worst. Whatever happened to PB and J Otter and Out of The Box? I liked and miss those shows. I can say that like to watch Little Bear, and Miss Spider with my children.

There are alot of shows that are just a waste of time! One show that I just love is Little Einsteins! My kids are crazy about it! They might as well be exposed to a bit of culture while watching TV. The only thing that annoys me about it is the voice of Annie. If we want to give our children a love of music, why does the character always have to sing off key?!

I do the same thing laura, so if you're bad then so am I :)  But I usually set it to Disney because my daughter likes to watch all the Playhouse Disney shows while she's eating breakfast.  We have on demand too but the offerings aren't the same lately.  There used to be a pretty big selection but now there is usually only one episode of each show they have listed.  I've taken to using my dvr so if my daughter wants to watch tv and its something that I don't feel like sitting through, I can just play back something else.   I checked in to boomerang and its not offered in our area by our current cable provider so I put in a request.  If that fails, I've been thinking about buying some of the dvds for my husband for V-day as he is ALWAYS talking about Looney Toons.  I think he'll be pleasantly surprised because I'm not sure he even knows that they are out on dvd, he doesn't usually pay attention to that kind of stuff.

What's really cool is if you have Time Warner you can go to  channel 1411 and get  free on demand. There's so many other channels too but that channel has noggin and pbs. For instance Jack's Big Music Show comes on at  8 in the morning our time but we just turn to free on demand and we can get Jack's Big Music Show any time of day for free!

Laura, no I don't think you're bad at all for doing that. I think as long as you know what channel it's on it's ok.

There is some show that my son likes to watch in the morning-and it could very well be Jack's Big Music Show(not sure though). I'll have to look for that one, if that's not what it is.

He will ask in the morning to turn on the tv. and I let him- the night before I just put it on Noggin, but I don't always see what's on when he turns it on-it's pretty safe and I don't mind that he turns it on and sits down and watches it-usually. Am I bad for doing that? Just to add to this the other day he was watching tv and I was cleaning and not paying any attention to what was on-it was Yo Gabba Gabba........he just sat there and laughed. He knows that show annoys me. he can watch if he wants(it's rare) as long as I don't have to be in the same room.

Oh yeah, Jack's Big Music Show is great :)  I don't remember why we stopped watching it, it must be on at the same time as one of the Disney shows my daughter likes now that I think about it.

Try Jack's Big Music Show on Noggin! It's kinda goofy but it's the only show that our 21 month old will actually sit down and watch and it's actually kinda catchy. He just stares at the TV!

Lorilynne-I'm not sure, you might just give your cable company a call. We have comcast and we get it. And yes the Upside Down Show is alittle off the rocker-I laughted when I read your post. For some reason or another my son really likes that show-I don't get it!

And Ashley-I thought of it, and posted.....lol It only seemed right to ask the question. and Now I know I'm not the only one who thinks Yo Gabba Gabba is strange and that there is something up with the DJ.

So I recorded the Upside Down show last night to see if my daughter would like it.  Its so weird!  She seemed really into it though and even laughed a little while watching it.   I'm going to have to look into Boomerang.  Is it a normal channel or something you have to request, like Sprout?  I haven't seen it anywhere on tv but maybe if I call the cable company.

Laura you are funny, we always talk about this on the phone and only you would of thought to post something about it! Jo Jo and Giovanni have liked most of the same shows for the most part all this time.

In our house we have the kid shows set on the "fav." list so my 4yr old can change them. He knows what show momma does not like so he will change them as soon as they come on. We watch : Little Bear, Little Bill, Franklin, Super Why, Wonder pet (not so much anymore), Backyardigans (he loved that and likes to watch the new ones when they come on), Little Einsteins, Handy Manny, Clifford, Dragon Tales, Caillou, Arthur, The Berenstain Bears, Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, Miss Spider, Yogi Bear, Tom and Jerry, Smurfs, Flinstones, Looney tunes,Jetsons, Garfield. Those are the shows momma is ok with. We also watch Animal Planet alot. But he loves when we got to the library and get like 25 books and he is read to before bed and through out the day. He will also sit and watch John and Kate plus eight and Little people Big world and shows that I like to watch. Oh and he likes American Idol. Giovanni will say "ok momma i watched 2 shows now you can watch 2 and then it is my turn again ok momma"

But YES yo gabba gabba and so many other shows are not watched in my house.

I love PBS kids programs.  Super Why and Word World are great educational shows.  We turn PBS Sprout on most of the time when he watches TV...that or DVD's.

I hate Yo Gabba Gabba....creepy DJ and the baby talk. My boy is 3 and loves it, as soon as I see it's coming up next I make sure I put a timer on another show so the channel switches right before it comes on lol. Also, not sure if everyone else will know what I"m talking about but there's a show called "in the Night Garden" all the charectors are called like doodly bops and wombly boos, Iggle Piggle.....frig, more baby talk but the kids love it? I think they make those shows to annoy parents lol. Also, with Max and Ruby......where are their parents? find that odd lol

Awww but  the songs teach you important lessons like "keep trying, don't give up!"  "its fun to brush your teeth" and my personal favorite "don't bite your friends!"  Lol, I love it.  I can see how it would be annoying though.  I'm pretty mellow about what my daughter watches and am pretty good at tuning out the really annoying stuff.  If it makes her happy then I don't mind and I think I love that show so much because she doesn't just sit there and watch it, she's up and dancing for pretty much the whole show.  Thats quite a helpful tool when its too cold to go outside :)

I agree, I do not like Yo Gabba Gabba, I don't see a point in watching a bunch of weird looking people dance around.  My son got a sweatshirt and one of the stuffed dolls that sing for Christmas.  He loves it and starts dancing around.  He can have the stuffed doll but he can't watch the show!

There is a channel or network that shows the old shows-Boomerang they usually have Tom and Jerry, Jetsons, smurfs(sometimes), Flinstones, and others. My son likes that one.

I let him go crazy at the library when he wants movies, or shows-I'm always finding the older stuff there.

Yeah, they do always play the same one.....I find myself singing all the kids songs to my husband and he thinks all the shows are weird.  He's constantly asking why Looney Toons isn't on.  Is there a tv station that plays that at all anymore?  I personally was never too into Looney Toons but then again, I wasn't really allowed to watch that much tv growing up.  I did love Wacky Races though, with all the Hanna Barbara characters.  I don't mind the preschool age shows (except the ones on PBS, I find those so boring.  Even Sesame Street and it bugs me that they have a character on there with a speech impediment), I'm more concerned about when my kids get into the saturday morning cartoons because my nephew watches those and I'm pretty surprised by the stuff thats on these days.  I sound so old!

Wow, I am shocked and then again I'm not with all the parents that think like I do when it comes to our kids cartoons and favorite shows.....lol

Lorilynne-yeah the backyardins are cute, but they are always showing the SAME show over and over. I forsome reason always have the 'Polka song" stuck in my head-it never leaves!!!! so yet again it's one that can become annoying.

I agree with Tammy, the behavior is a lot of the reason we have cut out a lot of cartoons. My 4 year old likes to try to talk to me like Max(max and ruby) and it irritates me so much like when he wants something to eat he'll say "eat, eat". We've kind of gotten in the habit of turning on XMKids on the tv and just using it for background noise while we play.

I think that yo gabba gabba is the next barney.. it is so irritating, I really don't let my son watch a whole lot on that station other than dora and diego. I make it a point to not let him watch ni ho kylan. he has picked up on one of the characters behaviors and it is not nice.

Have you see Tom and Jerry where the maid shoos Tom? They changed her voice to make it more politically correct! It's ridiculous!  After cartoon network stopped broadcasting regular looney toons, my husband went out and bought a cd collection just so the kids knwo the classics...or at least that was his claim!lol

I feel your pain. My oldest is 15 and my youngest 3 so I've seen it all the last two decades! About 11 years ago there was a great show on nick called "allegra's window". They were muppet style characters and played music and were really cute! They cancelled the show when my daughter_ Allegra _ was born! I was so bummed! Now if Barney could only go extinct- we dont' even let the kids watch that or I'll scratch my eyes out!

Yo gabba is lame. And I'm so sick of Lily watching dora and diego I have to leave the room. That's why mommy has a tv in her room so she can watch oprah!

I am so the minority here, I love yo gabba gabba and so does my daughter.  I think its kind of kitschy and I recognize all the guests they have on plus, the songs are so silly.  I can't stand Max and Ruby though.  Oh and Toot and Puddle!  I don't know why I don't like that one but I really don't.  I think Little Bear and Franklin are super boring and my daughter is totally not into it.  She loves Dora which is a little annoying (why is she always yelling?) but her favorite is Blues Clues which I actually like too.  Some one also mentioned Imagination Movers from Disney, we love that one and is one of the few shows my daughter watches every day.  She gets so excited when it comes on and she dances to all the songs.  I think I'm going to have to check out the upside down show, maybe record it on my dvr.  One show I wish my daughter would get in to is the Backyardigans.  That one is fun and the songs are good but I think it may be geared for older kids (my daughter is not quite two).

It's unanimous---parents hate Yo Gabba Gabba and the kids love it! Oddly, there is a song on the show (there's a party in my tummy) that my older daughter sings to my son when he is not in the mood to eat. it works every time---go figure!  As fo Wubbzy (my son's absolute fav), I think he is cute but I think his cute little sound effects inspire children to speak gibberish.  I have a 2 yr old that is constantly give people thumbs up and yelling "Yeeee Baaab!!" or "Squiggglllyyyy Waaa-Waaa!" out of nowhere. While he really looks cute doing it, it's kind of strange since I know he knows how to express himself other ways.

My son loves Noggin. He doesn't like Yo Gabba Gabba and the Upside Down show is on late at nite here so he's never seen it. The main shows he watches are Oswald, Blue's Clues, Miss Spider, Maggie the Ferious Beast and Wow Wow Wubbzy. I've gotta Oswald and Wubbzy are his favorite. He did however watch Tom and Jerry w/Daddy the other morning and laughed and said "It's funny"

I personally think Spongebob is stupid so I don't allow him to watch it. My son used to be so big into Barney got away from it for awhile and now wants to watch Barney again. So I do from time to time find myself singing Barney!   LOL

Also, we love the Imagination Movers on Disney. I have just got in the habit of telling my 4 y/o that shows like Yo Gabba Gabba will rot his brain so we have to change it to something that will help make him smarter. Now he will ask me when he changes the channel to a cartoon if it's gonna rot his brain or not and if so, we change the channel :)
