Lower back pain

I have two boys ages 2 and 4. I don't know if this is connected to having children in any way as I have not noticed until about a week to 10 days ago when it started. I have been getting lower back pain that kind of feels similiar to mild menstral cramps. Sometimes I get a sensation that radiates up my back kind of feels like a burning or tingling feeling. It's not consistent as it doesn't happen all the time. Anyone ever have this before or know what it could be? Any opinions or advice would be appreciated....

I have had this problem since I had my daughter 7 1/2 years ago. When I received my epidural, they did not do it correctly, because the contractions pushed the tube out of my back before I started to push. Since then I have had back pain off and on. I have found that the Icy Hot back patches work wonders on it.

Wanted to add.... if you really think it is lower back pain, try sleeping with a pillow under your knees if on your back or between your knee if on your side. If this brings relief then it is probably lower back strain. I also used to get this and after sleeping like this for a couple of day or a couple of weeks, it goes away. Bend at the knees when lifting heavy items rather than bending over at the waist will also help avoid straining your back.

Could be gallstones. Especially if you are feeling the pain after a meal. I have gallstones so I am speaking from experience.

I have this and it is called weak lower back muscles.I went to a dr and got an exam and I had therapy to get the exercises to strengthen the muscles.Nothing bad no wonder pills needed and mine was so bad my back would literally lock up to the point I was in bed for 2 weeks. It only got worse when I had my son.with regular stretching and these simple and painless exercises for my back I have not had a lock up in almost 2 yrs.

Thank you Crystal. I had been to a chiropractor in the past and although it was nice, it is fairly expensive I find. I guess I will have to see what the X-ray brings up first if they do find anything wrong.

I get the same thing going on in my back from time to time and it got realy bad until I started going to the chiropractor and getting adjusted. It took all the pain away and after the first few adjustments (ur body needs to get used to being in its proper place again) you notice a world of difference and i only experience the pain when i miss my regular adjustments. every 2 weeks when I am not pregnant and weekly while in later pregnancy and while breastfeeding is how often I need to go. try finding a chriopractor and see if he or she can help . I hope my advice is good and that ur pain goes away

I have had Back problems since I was 15 and it sounds like a disk/nerve problem. The Doc will do a CT Scan and tell you if it's either. There is not much they can do for it unless you want Steriod pain shots (I said no because I don't need anymore help gaining weight) or PT. You eventually learn to live with the pain.
I hope you get it checked out and I hope it's nothing.

I went to a doctor and she is sending me for an X-ray. I went that same day to go have the X-ray done and the technician turned me away because I was not in the 'safe zone'. Supposedly they can't give you can X-ray if you haven't had your period within the past 10 days. This is new to me. Never have been told this before. So I have to wait.

Shannon, I have not noticed it until 2-3 weeks ago and if I did have it in the past it is usually just right before my period. That's why I was beginning to wonder if maybe it is something else.

I have this problem too. I think its has something to due with my menstrual cycle. It comes and goes all through the month, but I have the same pain during my period.

No. Sometimes it is on the left side, sometimes the right side, and sometimes just right across the lower back area.

If it is on one side, it could be a kidney infection.
