I completely understand! My husband and I sometims have this same problem. We found that the Jr. High and High School aged girls at our church are always looking for a way to make extra $$! You might even ask some of your girlfriends if they know of anyone looking for a babysitting job.

When my husband and I absolutely can't find a sitter, I feed the kids a little early and send them to their room with a movie so that my husband and I can enjoy a nice romantic dinner and movie alone. If your kids won't go for that you might want to try putting them to bed a little early. Light a couple candles, dim the lights and viola! Setting out a blanket and having dinner picnic style in the living room is fun too! Good Luck!

We trade with our neighbors. That way we dont have the expense and we have someone we trust watching our kids. It works out great for us. We usually take their kids 1 night a month and they take our kids 1 night. It's not always on a Fri or Sat. Actually our date coming up is on a Friday afternoon when the kids are off school. A couples massage at 3 pm doesnt have to be at night either.

Wow, thanks you guys!!! I got a better response than I thought I would and you all have great ideas. We are actually "working" on our marriage and date night has been absent for a while, so that's why I was looking for advice. Hoping to bring that zing back in! =)

My husband and I never get a babysitter, so our date nights include cuddling (when my nausia isn't too bad) and either watching a new DVD or our favorite TV show. Sometimes we also have a special dinner after Corbin goes to bed. We set the table up nice, cook our favorite meal, and have no distractions other than each other for the night. It's not much, but it's still nice.

We have date night all the time, lucky us our little one is in bed between 7-8, I do not want to leave my child with a babysitter, and family is not close by, so we either go out to eat with Gabriel with us. or we get a movie and take out. there are so many things the you can go and enjoy with your little on with you. We have gone to the zoo, parks, ands muesem. Best wishes.

Who says "date night" means you have to leave the house. Feed the kids a little early, put them to bed a little early, and enjoy pizza or some other delivery together. You can still dress up, and even eat in candlelight!

Museums and galleries are fun. Picnics are also a really nice and somewhat low budget option. I know in our city, there are lots of parks that are really pretty and would be good for picnics, so that's probably where I'd start. Maybe even do both, have a picnic and then go for a walk through the museum and gallery district.

I also totally second the nominations of bowling and mini-golf! I really enjoy both of those things! Also regular golf is really fun, and if you have a sitter for only a short time, you can just play 9 holes. If you have a sitter for longer, you can play all 18. Being that some of the times you would have available are not prime weekend hours, you can maybe even get a discount on green fees at some courses.

Bowling, put put (mini golf), my hubby and I enjoy art museums, if you're into sports a basketball or hockey game. I my mom lives across the street and my sister two houses down so I don't know anything about finding a non family member babysitter, good luck!!

If it's possible to get anyone to watch them in the morning, we really like going for breakfast or brunch dates. Or we will often have a date night at home and watch a movie or play a game together after our little one is in bed.

I take it you dont have family to pawn your kids off to?? Do your kids have friends at school? maybe they could have a sleep over and then you can do the same for them in return... Since they go to the same school it wont be as much of a problem on a school night...

I think a fun date is bowling , or depending on where u live, a nice day at the beach...or even mini golf.
