Aww...teething can be really tough on everyone. When I was 18 all four of my wisdom teeth came in at the same time and took about 3 months for the pain to stop. There were days I couldn't even eat because my mouth hurt so badly. So I am very patient and compassionate with my son when he's cutting new teeth. Night time can be the worst (as it sounds like for your son) because the normal day time distractions are not there. I have some homeopathic teething tabs that I try first. (http://www.hylands.com/products/teething...) Extra nursing and cuddles...all day it seems at times. When he's awake you can try having him suck (or chew) on a cold washcloth or crushed ice which can help numb the pain. I try not to use pain reliever (like tylenol) unless he is miserable and nothing else has worked but from time to time I do. Unfortunatly, in my experience, there's not a whole lot to try beyond that. It's just a matter of waiting for them to break through. The good thing is that, at least for my son, once they're all the way through the skin it seems like the intense pain stops.

Good luck to you! I think most moms of babies/toddlers know what you're going through.

Thanks Cara. I don't think its something related to eating. He normally cries during night. he is teething and that might be giving pain....what did you do for your baby when he was teething?

I looked at your profile and it looks like your son is just a couple weeks younger than my son. Is that the baby you're asking about? If it is then I'd suggest teeth. This is about the time their molars start coming in and they HURT. Do you breastfeed? My son wants to nurse a lot during teething times and be extra close to me. I wear him in a baby carrier (even at home) which helps him be close to me and still allows me to get things done.

If it's not teeth, do you think it could be something he ate that's making him upset?

Do you know why the baby is crying? Hungry, gassy, upset?
