My daughter is 9months old and isnt crawling yet?

my youngest daughter never really crawled, she just got up one day and walked when she was about 13 months. She's everywhere now, pulling out chairs, crawling on the table. lol

my sisters boy didn't crawl at all. he skiped that step and later started walking. I wouldnt wory about it. you will miss the stillness once she starts crawling and walking anyway!

I can honestly say every baby is different and none is better than the other based on when they do stuff because they all eventually do it. My LO was walking at 9 months, she started crawling at 5. We didn't push she did it at her own pace and boy do I wish she would have waited! ;) But my cousin's baby is just a month younger and she didn't start crawling until she was 11 months and I am not sure she's walking yet at 15 months. Don't make yourself crazy, she'll get mobile when she's ready and then she'll never put on the brakes ;)

Don't worry sweetie...all babies are different! It would blow your mind! I have 3 kids (2 boys who are 9yrs and 3yrs old and 1 baby girl who is also 9months old). Both of my boys were crawling well before 9 months but my baby girl...NADA! Haha! Turns out when I was a baby I never crawled, just went straight to walking and it seems like that is the direction my baby is headed in also. Sounds like your baby has also gotten the idea that the best way to get around is walking. My little girl doesn't like being on her stomach either and that may be part of it as well. You are working with her and I really wouldn't worry, even in the same family my kids have been different...I just have the experience to know that they all develop at their own pace. Also, my pediatrician let me know that it is not uncommon for boys to crawl or walk earlier as they develop motor skills quicker than girls (generally though not always of course) and you may be surprised to find that your little girl will talk sooner....girls develop language skills first haha surprise surprise right! No matter what just know that she will for the rest of her life do things at her own pace in her own time...our kids are just like real people that way lol!!! Oh one last thing...sometimes putting a fav toy or item she REALLY wants just out of reach will give a baby the motivation they need to find a way (crawling) to get to it! Don't worry, your baby is quite normal!

my oldest was also large he did not end not end up crawling at all so there's nothing to worry over i too panicked but he eventually walked at about 19 months we even had him to specialist to have him checked out now his nearly 4 and there is no problems with his walking at all

when my son was about that age he never crawled either but he went just right past it and started to walk she might just bypass it as well but she will get there in her own time

hey there dont panick its not a race best thing is not to compare babies at all cause just as much as me and yourself is totally diff so are our babies ...my 18 month old isnt crawling and i dont think she will cause she doesnt like on her tummy much..she shuffles about on her bum and then rolls over... luckly ur wee girl is standin my wee girl is doin very little not even standin or pullin urself to stand.. i wud give her a few more months and if theres no change get a physio involved i had to with my wee girl shes comin on well ....

My son didn't even attempt to crawl until over 10 months. Don't worry about it! Some kids are crawling by 6 months, some aren't until MUCH later! Just like everything else our children learn, every child is different and will learn at thier own pace.

my son is 6 months old and he doesnt really crawl some babys just skip that stage altogether and go straight to walk so dont stress she might just be a later bloomer (think of it as extra time to pre pare for when she does!)

my little girl didn't crawl at all she wanted to stand or walk with help she started walking before she turned 1 now she just turned 2 and she just started the crawling now, every baby is different, she didn't like to be on her stomach either, every baby is different i wouldn't worry about it too much.

Hey lady! Don't sweat the small stuff. All of my babies have hated tummy time- crying and very unpleasant times. My oldest, did not roll over until 10 months, but she walked by 13 months. She was not a physical kid, but she was over the top with her language development (and she still is). She was also a chunky monkey (slim now). My second, had very bad acid relux and could not be on her tummy or she would immediately projectile vomit, until 10 months, and now at 20 months she is a ball of energy and hardly ever sits down. She is either running or asleep. . My girls also loved the jumparoo, and could not get enough of it. Reminder, your daughter also loves the jumperoo and is getting a "great work out" for her muscles.
If you are conserned talk to your pediatrician next time you are there. Don't worry- she will be fine.

Every baby is different. And they all have their own little unique rythms. She'll start crawling in her own time.

I would just let her go at her own pace! My nephew didn't start crawling until he was almost 11 months old. It could be because she is a big baby. Also, some babies skip crawling all together and go straight to walking! It sounds like you are doing great with her! Good luck!!!

My son didn't walk till he was 15 months old and then watch out. He would hold onto things like the couch and stuff around a year but his first steps were at 15 months. I have friends and their kids didn't walk till they were older as well. just relax and enjoy this stage once they start walking alot more things are reachable for them.

She is still within normal range for starting to crawl (normal range is up to the end of the 10th month). Tummy time is good to ensure she has good core strength but dont go overboard, many babies crawl from a sitting position.

If another couple of months go by with no crawling you can always see a paediatric physiotherapist who can give her a few small exercises to help her along (especially if she wants to move but cant and is getting frustrated).

All babies develop differently, but from personal experience, not one of mine crawled before 11 months of age, and my daughter (and apparently, myself) didn't crawl before 14 months. Don't sweat it, once they start moving, you wish for those days.

Let your pediatrician know ... All babies develop differently although she should start this at 6 mo.

Lay her on the floor and put things in front of her JUST beyond her reach - often that will get a child going!

My first son got around combat style (arm over arm) in stead of crawling and then went to walking holding on to things. My daughter was walking holding on to things first and then she decided to start crawling. I wouldn't worry about it. Each child is different, some do things early and some do things later.

My son never crawled until after he learned to walk ( which he figured out between 10 & 11 months) and then he only learned so he could crawl over to something to pull himself up to walk. He would stand and cruise around furniture, but if you sat him down on his belly to try to make him crawl he'd just lay there and cry...and cry...and cry while I tried to get him to come to me. Then he'd put his head down and go to sleep after about 10 minutes.
So...I'd say don't worry about it, but if you're still concerned at the next Ped. appointment say something.

I would so not worry about bubs not crawling. I think we are of a generation who worry if children don't meet milestones when the experts say they should that theres something wrong with our child. You shouldn't force it though. Just let her be. She'll do it when she's ready. My son was content with playing with his toys all day long and didn't roll over when he 'should' have. He started crawling at 9 1/2months. Doesn't mean your wee girl is slow just means she might be interested in doing other things. He may not have been interested in moving but his co-ordination and depth perception developed early. He also loved to stand and be walked around the room. I think just go with the flow. She's only 9months old! They do things when they are ready. This is a magic time that you'll never get back so relax and just enjoy her. You are allowed.

Is she able to put her head up and sit up properly? My daughter was born 5 weeks early and had several devopmental delays, starting with being unable to lift her head up off the floor. I had to start her in several therapies by 8 months old, and yes, the fact that she was a big baby did not help, as she also had low muscle tone. You could ask your doctor if that's the case.

My oldest was like that. He was not a big baby, he just didn't want to crawl. He was comtent to sit in the middle of the floor and play. I would have the doc check his legs at appt just to be sure there was nothing wrong. There wasn't. He started crawling at 10 1/2 months and was walking about 2 months later. Some babies just don't want to move around for some reason. He is now almost 14 years old and is perfectly healthy and active. As long as the doc doesn't feel there is anything wrong with joints or muscles don't worry about it. She will move wneh she's ready. I remember thinking come on crawl, crawl crawl. then he did and I was like could you just sit still for a minute. One day you'll set her down, leave the room for a minute come back and she'll be gone, in the next room crawling around.

My daughter basically skipped the crawling stage, it's not that uncommon. She had a big head and was a bit chubby. She loved standing too (but they shouldn't do it all day according to the literature). You don't have control over your baby's development so don't take it personally. Always address concerns to a pediatrician, if you are in doubt. Otherwise, let nature take it's course. You are doing a great job!

I would also add that you really don't want to rush things like crawling and walking....enjoy the time you have with her NOT BEING MOBILE!!!!! Trust me, once they can move about on their own, it's a whole new set of challenges for you....lol!! :-)

My daughter is one week from turning one, and she JUST started crawling!!!! :D I was worried too, but I was told that if she wasnt crawling by 1, then I should talk to her doctor. Well, she made it!!!! My daughter HATED being on her stomach since she was born!! Tummy time was never anything more than SCREAMING time!! :P My daughter LOVES to stand up and walk while I hold her hands too!! :) Hope weighs 30 lbs., and her pediatrician said that it will take her longer to reach milestones because her muscles have to get stronger so that she can carry her weight. I think that makes sense, dont you?? :) :) :) She will be crawling before you know it, and getting into EVERYTHING, so enjoy this time while you can!!!! :) :) :) Besides, this is much more common than you think!! I felt like I was the only mom too, but you would be suprised!! :)

My son didn't crawl till 10 months. One of his little friends of the same age, never really crawled at all. I know it's hard when other kids that you see are crawling, but try not to worry. As said, it is often skipped and not one of those important milestones like rolling and walking.

My son is 5 months old and is 20 lbs and 27 inches and he is almost crawling so it is not because of her size. Katie is right some babies just skip crawling all together and walk first. Don't be concerned until your doctor is concerned. My cousin had a baby and she was 11 months and she is 17 lbs and she wasn't crawling either.

Some babies never crawl. They go straight to walking. My son didn't do the proper crawl till about 9.5 or 10 months. At around 9 months he started doing the backwards commando crawl, then he started to go forwards, and then that evolved into this weird crab crawl which only lasted a few days and then he began to really crawl. He started walking a week after he turned one and he is now 13 months and walking like a total pro. You've got nothing to worry about. Your baby will move when she's ready.

My son was the same way..My daughter was early on everything walking talking potting I mean everything but my son was my slow child he didn't do anything on time..I think he was closer to 11 mths before he walked and he was over a year before he talked now he is seven years old and doing everything normally each child is different and does things differently some are slow while others are on time..So don't worry about it too much she will do just fine

Thanks for all the encourging words this is very helpful to me as i am a first time mom and you ladies know how that goes so thank you. She does love to stand the most i just didnt know if i should push the issue of crawling i work with her on the floor as much as possible..

My daughter never really crawled at all, she loved the jolly jumper and standing or sitting, but did kind of a 3-point (both hands and one knee) scoot. She went from that to furniture walking, then to walking on her own. I would encourage her to stand if she likes that, and not worry too much about her not crawling, since some babies just never crawl.

My son scooted or rolled across the floor and rocked back and forth on his hands and knees but he never crawled. He started walking at 10 months. A lot of babies never crawl. They go straight to walking.

hi there im have two boys who never crawled at all untill there were 18months..dont worry about it but if you want mention it to your health professional and see what they say. My boys shuffled on their bums but didnt do this until they were 11 months but both walked at 15 months so your child wil come aslong grand some just develop faster than others..

Ahh let her jsut go at her own pace. I would mention it to the pediatrician next time your in but I have friends who have babies like yours and theres nothing wrong. My 9month old didn't want to crawl b/c she foudn she could move around much faster if she walked so off she went. If nothing else sees off "developmentally" I'm sure she is just unmotivated and fine. She will get it soon!
