I resigned from my job 6 months ago to be home with my kids aged 7 and 6 years. Its been great spending quality time with them without the work related stress. However 6 months into being a stay-at-home mom I've reached boredom to a point where I'm rethinking my decision to be home (feel guilty for feeling this way). I love being home with my kids and its amazing being stress free but I crave the mental stimulation work provides. Is this normal and how do I get through this?

Join a mom group on Meetup or FB or start your own if there isn't a local one. Also get crafty, start on some projects by yourself or with your kids, big ones that take days to finish.

Or volunteer somewhere and take your kids along!

This is what keeps my brain from turning to mush :)

Create yourself newly! You have the luxury of time and space, do not overlook the power it holds. Have you ever wanted to write a book? create recipes? start a business? Start planning the next endeavor you will take on. Lay the groundwork, make the connections, join an organization that does not revolve around the kids and join some that do. Make friends, meet new people, organize a neighborhood garage sale or walk-a-thon to raise money for a charity you are dedicated to, enroll your neighbors and kids' friends into the idea. You are smart and creative, let the juice flow! Often times we don't want to take on these new kinds of things because we think that we aren't entitled to enjoy the luxury we have been given, being at home with the kids. The kids grow up and out fast, take the time now and plan for your future, it's fun, exciting and ultimately profitable.

Michelle: I'm very sorry. This is my third day in the CoM community and I didn't realize what I had done until after I did it. I promise I won't let it happen again.

Tasneem: I'll private message you some details.

Have a great day!

Jan

Jan: Please make sure you don't post about your business here. We don't allow solicitations.

Tasneem: It's best not to ask about home businesses in this community because it encourages people to solicit. There are work from home communities within CoM that will be able to help you with that.

Michelle,
SAHM Admin.

Hi Tasneem. What you're feeling is totally normal. I've been at home for 10 years now (my kids are now 18 and 14) and learned to occupy my time with lots of things, but the most rewarding thing that I did was to find a work-at-home business that allows me to work (and make money) from home, on my own time. It's great to be able to fit work into your life instead of the other way around. I love what I do and love sharing it with other women because I can relate to them. If you're interested in hearing about my business and how you might be able to have fun while making money AND being home with your kids, let me know. I'd love the opportunity!
