On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being spotless and 10 being a absolute disaster zone) how clean is your home RIGHT NOW?? Be honest!!

My home right now is about a six...I am trying to gather the strength to clean my nasty bathroom and my four yr old sons bedroom is downright scary:l

You talking "picked up" Or "Clean". Right now there are pillows all over the floor, and the kitchen is full of the after effects of yesterday's huge dinner (dish washer needs to be reloaded) but my house is clean, carpets vaccines every other day, bathrooms are spot cleaned (I keep clorox disinfecting wipes in each bathroom because I have all boys and at times they seem to have directional issues (if you know what I mean) between major diinfectings which
happen weekly and between as needed. Weekends are pretty much everyone's time to relax so in answer to your question, right now my house is a 8 in terms of needing pick up, but no worse than a 2 or 3 in terms of cleanliness. life is too short and children won't remember how clean your home was, but the quality time you spent with them instead. Case in point, instead of busting our buts cleaning, we grabbed our kids and our suits and rented canoes for the day.....theres always going to be cleaning to do, our kids won't be kids for long, so I'd rather their memories be of family fun.

mines probably an 8! The weekends are always bad for my house. My family doesn't care about all the work I put into cleaning it, so their stuff is every where, and the last 2 days I've had to do other things. I imagine tomorrow it will be down to a 2 or 3, but that is only if my 6 month old cooperates.

I'd say about a 6, if 1 is movie set clean and 10 is Hoarders. I am a stay at home and homeschool mom of 3 ( ages 1,3 &5). Before I can finish cleaning one thing, they've messed up 5 others. It really is dragging me down. People tell me to lower my expectations, but my husband is already frustrated with me...if it gets any worse, he might stop coming home!

probably a 5 on any given day (unless we're expecting company LOL) As I clean my 5 4 and 3 year old boys follow behind me and promptly destroy what I have down. I have a dog and a cat that, judging by the amount of hair on the steps and in corners that I find daily, they must secretly explode hair when they are alone. I am surprised they are not naked. My husband doesn't hep much...though he thinks he does :) Plus we just moved in to our fixer upper, so it needs a lot of work and there is often a lot of dust from the work we're doing. But it's my dirty house and I love it lol

8. Not bad enough to go on a television show, but the house itself is so old and falling apart that no matter what I do, it always looks "dirty". Only paint, leveling and replacing stuff will help there. for disorderliness, I would have to give it a 4. With four boys, a 2 is pretty much the best it ever gets!

A 5.5, It is about 9:30 am here and we been up since 7am and I am still drinking my coffee to have the energy to clean urgh. Clarie did manage to keep the breakfast from exploding and today she has yet to give herself a yogurt bath so that helps! The last few days have been hectic, my son came for visit, had a good bye party for him, had a couple bday parties to attend and I was just too busy/lazy to do much. I can't believe it is already Thursday!
I will have it an 8 or 10 by tonight. But it is not awful dirty except I need to mop my floors urgh and the bathrooms urgh! I already started the laundry but got folding to do urgh....After writing all this to do I am going to make another pot of coffee!
I do manage to keep the bedrooms neat and clean and I have to a good system for keeping toys from being all over the place. We got a wall unit that has shelves, on the shelves I got boxes for Claire's toys. One has blocks, one for baby dolls etc. I only allow her to get a new box when she puts all the other toys from the old box away. It is easy for her to just put them in a box and she almost always does it.
I also have a rule for myself that every time I enter a room, IE go to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee, I will load a few dishes in the dishwasher or I see something needs to be put away I do it. Little by little it works and it keeps things from going out of hand...

Today a 3. I really dislike CLEANING. I just think how I don't want our 15 month son to walk around in a disgusting place, so that motivates me. There will be days I am anal and walk around with a dust cloth and constantly pick everything up I see. I do clean the floors and counters daily. But today The bathroom needs a scrubbing and laundry is never ending and the sink is full of dishes. We live in an old farm house(ughhh) so the old musty basement keeps me from going down there on a daily basis to do laundry. My husband is not too bad with picking up after himself but that took work to get him motivated. His mom definitely did everything for him. I am already showing our son how to pick up toys and put things away.

my house right now is about a 5 we moved into this apartment in October 2010.. we still have boxes in the basement to go through and we don't see a point now becasue we will be out of here by Christmas. There is a huge piled of folded clothing on my table. As for over all cleanliness my house is never REALLY DIRTY! We are more disorganized then anything else. I'm really picky about my kitchen and bathroom and the dishes

It is bad. I mean really bad. It gets cleaned every two weeks. But until then anything that hits the floor stays there until the cleaning gal comes. Then the night before she comes I do a mad dash and try and pick everything up. I do this because I do love my cleaning gal. She is like family to me. If it were not for her I would never clean. ha ha

@ Key Benway, Weekends are pretty much everyone's time to relax so in answer to your question, right now my house is a 8 in terms of needing pick up, but no worse than a 2 or 3 in terms of cleanliness. life is too short and children won't remember how clean your home was, but the quality time you spent with them instead. **This is exactly my thinking too!! Life is definitely way to short!! My house is always "messy" as far as clutter everywhere, but it is clean..dusting and mopping/vaccuming etc.. but our kids are real young and our place is small for all of our stuff. we have an apartment with only one "common" room which we use for watching TV and a toy room. we dont want the kids to be "banished" in their room just so we can keep the living room neat. we are not that kind of a family..when we know we have company coming we will "straighten up" I dont fret letting clutter around. especially since it will just be trashed later when we all get home anyway. i'd rather enjoy our time as a family also!
VERY GLAD to know im not the only one :)

LOL...I love it! I'm NOT the ONLY one!!!

Mine is generally a 3 or 4, depending on season and activity level. I stopped hoping for 2, and completely gave up on 1! Right now, were sitting at about an 8 on the scale, but we'll be at 2 by Thursday because my MIL is on her way for Easter...LOL

Wonderful thread! It really helps to realize that not everyone can keep the "perfect" house, and to know that it's OK to not pass the "white glove inspection"!

Thank you so much for the giggles as I read the different responses!

Wow, I like a clean house. I like cleanliness, but it's just not realistic for me to clean everyday(the kitchen is an exception). I would say my house is a 6. Not to clean. Tomorrow I am hoping to get it to a 3.

Jenn- I am so glad to know i am not alone!!! I have shirts laid out on the back of the couch now..(they have been there for 4 days)! right now, my 'excuse' is that i have finals coming up and i've been to busy studying! LOL Also it doesn't help that our apartment is very small and we have enough 'crap' to fill a decent sized house!!! haha.

we are usually around a 4 here. It is hard to keep clean If one is absolutely spotless id say we average that about 2 x a month for an entire day then it goes right back to being trashed. its easy though cause i only have one child and she is now 13 months. yeah her toy area is ususally the only thing that looked like a tornado ripped though there but i can live with that as long as there are no dishes are in my sink and my toilet is clean.=)

I would say about a six, been working on getting it together before we leave for the inlaws next sat. the basement is always the hardest for us but we are getting there. My kids are at the perfect age to want to help right now ( 3 and 4) so they help with their rooms and then get to put a sticker on their charts for doing it at night and same with other chores like putting their clothes in the right draws and stuff
