Potty training--need to get pee smell out of clothes--help!

I have been potty training my son by using underwear.."big boy" pants (therefore doing alot of laundry). However, I am finding that I can't get the smell of pee out the clothes. I have tried putting a litte vinegar in with my detergant, using febreeze after I washed the clothes, using stain remover sprain...etc and so far nothing has worked. I don't want to throw the clothes out and he is pretty close to being fully potty trained. Please help if you have any idea as to how I can get rid of the pee smell from the clothes!!

with all three of my children when potty training i would take the yucky clothes and put them in a bucket with hot water and dawn dish soap.. i would let them set all day then wash at night.. it worked for me....

you can also try a pet odor remover. ive used this sucessfully. its used to get cat an ddog pee smells out and you can get it in the pet isle. good luck!

I leave a bucket of hot water w/ baking soda in the bath tub and let the accident clothes soak all day then wash in hot water with regular tide at the end of the night.

Awesome. it's this spray we get at one of the dollar stores here in michigan. it is strong enough to clean a car engine, but everyone i know uses it to get stains out of laundry. works great.

I agree with Heather, about pee being acidic, you should counter act it with a base, baking soda is a good one. Another helpful hint for down the road, hairspray gets most stains, (blood, dye, markers) out of clothes with a little soap and a lot of rubbing.

Wash in HOT water, and add a little amonia to the wash water, extra rinse if you have it, and Downy! amonia smells a little like pee (very acidic) but it takes out the musty pee pee smell

same as Amanda said. I use to soak my boys stuff in a large bucket overnight and then wash it in the morning in tide w/febreeze.

Try baking soda in the wash. You may have to soak them for awhile before washing in hot water.
