So i got a Mirena on March 30, 2017 not on my period. Doctor said to wait a week for IUD to be effective. March 31 and the following 2 days my bf came in me . I had told him no that it's risky but did it. That following Monday I started spotting for about a week and a half. I took a pregnancy test same week just incase it was negative. Now I have crazy pregnancy symptoms. I am constantly nauseous, I am extremely tired and sleepy all the time and my boobs r so sore and huge. I just did another pregnancy test which came out negative but i just feel super pregnant. I went to check if IUD was in place they did a pelvic scan and she said it was in place last week. I'm not sure what's going on with me. Can i be pregnant? Can it be the IUD? Planned parenthood and gyn said my symptoms are not caused by mirena.

Look, Michaela, I am an admin too. If you saw half of the stuff that gets flagged for us to review...you'd be shocked. Of course, it is her body to do with as she pleases. What i don't appreciate (as a nurse) is the accusation that her doctor or PP would be deceptive about what may be happening. She consented to the implantation of the IUD, she was given the directions and if she chooses not to abide then that is on her- not her doctor and not PP

I agree Sarah, there is no way that I would let anyone put a Mirena in me. The side effects are really bad. I had a doctor get very annoyed with me when I refused it.

ETA: Michaela: I didn't use rude language, I was just being straight to the point. What is so wrong with letting another woman know that it's NOT okay for a man to abuse her body? Why can't I empower another woman to stand up for herself against the person who is supposed to love her but doesn't listen when she says no? That is rape and it's against the law.
BTW, I admin this group and I know the rules so when you flag I post I see it.

The doctor or PP would not have anything to lose by telling her she could have conceived and potentially miscarrying. They gave her instructions which she did not follow. Also it's only been 3 weeks. I don't know why women would use a hormonal form of BC without carefully researching the medications and the the side effects.

Intercourse three weeks ago would not likely yield a positive test but if you had a US to check for the mirena, then you are not pregnant.

So why did you go against the doctor's advice?
If your boyfriend doesn't take note of when you say no then you have bigger problems. It's YOUR body and YOU decide what happens, not him!!!!!
There are so many symptoms with the Mirena I wouldn't let anyone put it near me so who knows what is going on.
We will have no idea if you are pregnant or not, if you are it's very, very early and most people don't have symptoms this early.
It can also take months for your body to get used to the hormones from the Mirena, if at all!!
