pros and cons of having a first birthday party at your house vs. at a park?

My sons first birthday is Oct 24th, and I am stuck between having the party at our home vs a public park. The park is very pretty and has a lot of attractions (a train, rides, playground, paddle boats, etc. ) however my son is going to be the oldest child there. all of my friends children are under one, so there will be mostly adults. So having it at a park seems kind of silly. As for our home, we have space, just not a ton, we have a small fenced in backyard, and we live in a community that doesn't have a lot of parking. we are keeping the party small though so everyone would fit. I also am not sure how I would decorate our house? do i just do decorations outside? or do I do them both inside and outside? Can anyone help me decide and maybe share your experience?

I had both of my daughters' first bday parties at home. I kept them both very simple, generic girl colors decorations-most were leftovers from the first child's party. Balloons outside to direct guests to the correct home. I made my own banner for each child with her name on it and a blank space for the new age which I simply draw on a blank paper and tape on the banner every year. I bought a small cake for the birthday child ,and either buy or bake cupcakes for the guests to have, and the single serve icecream cups are the best thing ever!!! Use disposeable EVERYTHING. have a large trash container sitting outside of the house,and most of all, keep in mind that this is only the first bday...your baby won't remember most of it anyway so there is no reason to go crazy with the glitz.

AND HAVE FUN & TAKE LOTS OF PICS for telling the story to him as he grows up.

I did my daughters birthday party at a park and it was great! The adults enjoyed it too. I think that there is less clean-up, and it's much more convenient. I would definitely do it there especially because of the attractions.
