Should I be worried?

Our son gets one cup of milk per day and that is with dinner....he has puff wheat cereal mixed with granola and flax seed with whole milk and cold tea to drink ( currently drinking decaf licorice spice tea) for breakfast, same thing to drink with lunch and throughout the day and one cup of milk with dinner....toddlers only need 2 servings of dairy products per day...so that can be in the form of milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. Remember, human being were not designed to digest milk...too much dairy can lead to constipation and indigestion....your son may be trying to tell you something by not drinking as much as you are offering....we get a lot of our daily calcium from the foods we eat...example, broccoli is very high in calcium...my son loves broccoli, it's like dessert to him :)

i think 16-20oz a day is about what they are supposed to get around that age. but don't freak if he is not getting that much. have some cool sippy cups ready anytime for him and maybe even put a few drops of sugar free chocolate syrup in it, that is certain to spike interest. my 2 1/2 yr old has not wanted to drink white milk really ever but my pediatrician said chocolate is much better than no milk, and if you read the bottles of chocolate syrup you can find one that is not so bad. they also make pediasure shakes that he may like but they are rather expensive.

My son ONLY gets 2 cups one in the morining and one at dinner.He drinks WATER at lunch he gets half water half juice some days.

you can always try a straw cup.. but he doesnt need more then 2 cups a day one in the morning and one at night

3 out of my 4 kids were just like that. I don't know if the milk tastes different in the sippy to them or if they just associate milk in the bottle. I started giving my children yogurt as a morning snack for additional calcium, adding cheese to their diet at lunch or dinner or string cheese as afternoon snacks. Then I also would give them chocolate whole milk in their sippy at breakfast. They drank it like it was candy. My sister had the same problem with her son but instead of chocolate whole milk she introduced her toddler to Ovaltine and he loves it. It has lots of vitamins and if the kids develop a taste for it,they will drink their milk. Hope this helps! The rest of the day I gave my children only water in their sippys and occasionally juice at dinner. It worked great for me.

The sippy cup may take some time, but he will get the hang of it. The amount he is getting at a time is okay, just give more frequently. My 2 year old drinks milk 3-4 times a day in his sippy cup, the ones with the straw. He drinks on average, 6-8 ounces in the morning, in the afternoon, and between dinner and bed.

I offer only 1 cup of whole milk a day so about 8 oz at breakfast. I don't want to load up my daughter on that type of fat. I give her more fats in other meals. All of her meals that have milk in them are made with skim. I add avacados and I use a lot of fish for her meals and for the needed fats.
