Should I worry about an abnormal pap 6 weeks after having my baby?

I wouldn't be concerned about it until you find out what it is.  I had an abnormal pap a few weeks after I delivered and my doctor said it was most likely due to my having a hard labor and such.

I had abnormal paps through out my second pregnancy and at my 6 week post part appointment and had to go back in a month after that. Went in and my paps have been normal ever since. I have never had abnormal paps until then and it freaked me out but everything ended up being ok.

I had an abnormal pap after my second child and my doctor told me it was fairly common after a delivery. It's great that they are following up with extra tests already... my doctor just decided to follow up in 6 month instead of a year.... that made me worry more that something could be missed. It all turned out to be nothing so hopefully it will be the same for you.

my twins are a year now, and I just got back an abnormal pap, Im having a colposcopy next week, which i've had done before, and it was fine, i'm still nervous, though. noone likes to hear "abnormal cells" but it can be any little thing, too. not necessarily something wrong. dont freak, as i'm telling myself the same thing :-)

I too had an abnormal pap after having my 3rd girl. But I went back a month later and everything was all right. They told me it was just that I had scaring after having my baby and sometimes this happens. so don't get too upset, because it maybe nonething to it. good luck

They have a standard HPV Reflex test that my cells will go through before they order any other tests, but I am still worried, because I have to wait several weeks to get the results of that test. I have had one abnormal pap before, but that was before I had children and it turned out to be nothing, so I am hoping this will be the same....I am still nervous though!

There should always be some concern over an abnormal pap. They should be sending you for another test soon. Try increasing your B vitamins, especailly folic acid.

Hi Erin! Did the doctor talk this over with you yet? If he did, did he order more tests like bloodwork or a follow up pap smear?
