I finally got my son off bottles and now I am looking for a good sippy cup. I know it's difficult to find one that is truly leak prooof, but my main concern is when I carry it in the diaper bag. I have been using a cup with water for a while, and it gets all over everything! I am worried about if I carry milk or juice. Are there any cups that have lids?

My son uses the cups with lids and the thick plastic straws. I would not give him any standard sippy cup. Prior to finding those, he would have to sit at his high chair and drink from a cup. If we were out and about, he drank from Mama and Dada's straws, so I guess these cups were an easy transition for him. The ones we use, which also have a sliding piece over the straw, are made by Playtex, and as long as you screw the lid on correctly and tightly, they don't leak much at all!

I have also found some by Gerber that work really well and Wal-mart carries them..one kind has charactors on them and a basic cover (these seem to leak the least). our second fav is the tall 'thermos' cups, they have a plastic piece that goes in the cover (suppose to be replace-able) to help stop it from leaking..both of these two kinds of cups are sold at Wal-mart in the infant section. The thermos ones are kinda expensive but my oldest daughter has been using the same one for almost three years. the other cup she has elmo on she has been using for three and a half...we have used alot of diffrent types of sippies over the years trying to find ones that the kids like, are easy to clean and do not leak and like I said from our experience these two cups seem to be the best, they are either by Gerber or Playtex... Good luck

Thanks everyone! I'll check those out. I actually have one of those straw cups, but my son isn't too crazy about it. I'll have to convince him otherwise, lol! The diaper bag has places for bottles, but cups don't fit in there too well.

Does your diaper bag have a bottle/cup holder in it? That helps.

i dont think there are any sippy cups that are 100% spill proff but the ones ive found that work the best are the ones with a straw on top that has the lid that covers the straw. thats the one my 8 month old uses and it works good.
