My 2 and a half year old won't sleep through the whole night. She wakes up with nightmares/night terrors. She will wake up anywhere from 1-10 times in one night. I live in an apartment so I can't let her scream herself back to sleep (like some doctors think I should do). Any suggestions?

HI my oldest daughter who is currently 4 still has trouble sleeping throught the night. About a year ago someone suggested changing her room color, as some are more soothing. Her room was decorated in Dora the Explorer, per her choice. Come to find out, she would wake up in the night and see Dora on the wall and get scared thinking someone was in her room. Also she kept complaining of someone looking in her window at night, daddy went outside at night and (pretended) to get rid of the "boogey man". it has helped. Recently we have started a chart and she gets a sticker for every night she stays in bed and then at the end of 14 days she gets to pick a prize. Good luck:)

Nightmares/terrors have some base of truth in them. If you can, get her to talk about the nightmare. reassure her that she is safe.

My 2 are scared of monsters. I picked from their many toys a couple to be "monster scare-ers" Every night during tuck in time. For example: "Here is your dolphin. Monster are scared of dolphins. scares them so much that they won't even enter a house with one in it!" Maybe this will help you.

My 3yr old has night terrors. Unfortunately, there is really nothing you can do about those. just make sure they are safe. Eventually they grow out of them. If it's nightmares, try playing soft music, a night lite, a lovey to hold, etc.

sorry i couldn't be of more help.

if i may, try a amethyst crystal under her pillow, inside her pillowcase...tell her it is to protect her in her dreams. Kids like that kinda stuff. If you don't want to try the crystal try something like a necklace, ring, rock or whatever you can find. Tell her it is a protection item. Lavender is a great thing also.

I use alot of lavender to soothe. I give my kids a lavender bath before bed, use some lavendar cream afterwards. You could also try using insense (lavender or something else soothing), or a humidifier with a scent in it. Soothing sounds work with my twins (sounds of Nature) A night light so she's not in the dark when she does wake up.
