I can be a bit of a lazy one, what with 2 under 2. :) But with some things i can be a natzi :P Just curious how the rest of you cope.

Wash dishes: Constantly as they appear
Mop Floors: Once a month or so, unless someone comes over and they're bad :/
Sweep Floors: Every second day or so, depending on the mess, not a routine
Vacuum: Doing this a bit more often now, maybe every 2-3days but used to let this go for a couple weeks at a time!
Do the laundry: Every 2-3 days. I like to keep on top of this one.
Bathe the kids: Every 2-3 days.
Wash your hair: Try to do this every 2nd day or else it gets oily!
Clean bathroom sink & toilet: Used to do it 3-4 days but now sometimes let it go for a week or week & half...once i let it go for 3 weeks, got so busy!!
Dust: Whenever i see it, i mean whenever it looks bad. Can be a week or so.
Cook dinner/lunch: This has gotten real bad. Lucky to do it once a week! I don't have enough quick easy recipes!
Grocery shopping: 1 & a half weekly
Wash sheets: Monthly, but more often if they get real bad or have a leaky nappy or in summer.
Ironing: Never! lol. Used to do it every night before bed to be ready for work the next day, but now i dont work so i dont really care!

Feel free to add any others i've missed :)

I do a little bit of everything everyday. I have a timer that I set for 15 minutes in each room and do whatever I can get done in 15 minutes. There are a few chores that I don't consider part of that, though, the weekly ones, or like the continuous kitchen stuff.

Wash Dishes: Load the washer throughout the day, then run it at night, unload it everyday during the kitchen's 15.

Sweep/Mop: About every other day--you have to go through my kitchen from the garage so it gets bad quick.

Vacuum: Everyday during the 15 for each room.

Laundry: Every other day or so, but not on weekends-that's my break!

Bed linens: I make the beds everyday, but I only take the linens off and wash them on Fridays.

Dust: Everyday, during the 15.

Wash my hair: Every day :( It's an oily mess if I don't.

Wash kid: Pretty much every day, unless he is unusually clean, my little bugger gets dirty.

Iron: I don't iron either. If it has to be ironed, it has to be dry cleaned.

Cooking: Every night except Mondays (Taekwondo goes late that night, so we get take away) and we eat out a lot on weekends too...

Grocery shopping: I aim for once every 2 weeks, but usually make a weekly run for stuff we use up too quick.

I forgot bathrooms :/ wouldn't want to do that in real life. I have two, so I clean each one every other day--I'm the only girl in this house, you can't let it go long around here :P

Hi Kitty, Thank you for your response but this thread is a little old. Anything over six months is considered old so I am going to lock it but thanks again for your input. :)

I do Flylady.com. Its great to keep organized. Each room or area has a week.

Dishes-when there is a pile, usually first thing in the morning, before and after dinner.

Mop floors-every other week, once a month really well, corners etc

Sweep- when it needs it

Vac-downstairs weekly, upstairs monthly

Dust-when it really needs it, less upstairs

Bathrooms-downstairs 2-3 times a week, upstairs quickly wipe down once a week, good cleaning every other week.

Laundry-usually daily

Change beds-weekly

shower/bathe kids-every 2 days, more if hot out

Grocery shopping-when we need it. My husband will grab milk or something on the way home.

Dinners- 3-4 times a week. The other days I have leftovers the kids usually have something like chicken nuggets or pizzas

But I am neatening and cleaning constantly, it seems its never ending.

I'm a stay at home mom and a college student. I have a two year old, but he goes to school three times a week so I have a little bit more 'free' time to do some things. Not to mention that I do have issues with germs.. (my husband jokes that its OCD but its not)
Wash dishes: At least twice a day
Mop Floors: Once every week- week and a half
Sweep Floors: depending on the mess every other day
Vacuum: once a day....
Do the laundry: Probably one load a day (potty training toddler)
Bathe the kids: every night (with the occasional off day)
Wash your hair: I try and do it every two days at least...
Clean bathroom sink & toilet: At least once a week.. but typically every three days.
Dust: unfortunately only once a month-month and a half (unless my in-laws are coming in town)
Cook dinner/lunch: Every day. I cook every meal.. even though breakfast typically consists of oat meal or cereal.
Grocery shopping: Once a week.. but I may have to run in and get milk or a random thing for a recipe.
Wash sheets: My sons, twice a week because he has bad allergies and eczema... mine and my husbands once a month or so.
Ironing: I DESPISE ironing... I honestly would rather scrub a toilet. I NEVER iron. My husband irons his own work shirts... I refuse to do it.
Put away folded laundry: When I finally get fed up with it not doing itself (once a week or so lol)

Wash Dishes, All the time! I have even have had to run the dishwasher twice and despite the dishwasher I am the other one all day.
Mop Floors, I have hardwood floors through out my home and I Mop the main floors (kitchen, living and dining area) every other day. When my daughter was a crawler I moped every day. It freaked me out to think she was crawling on a dirty floor. The bedrooms and other area's of the house once a week.
Vacum daily sometimes twice a day in the main living areas and again the rest once a week.
Laundry I do daily, at least one load a day.But I don't have a dryer(getting one soon) So I have to count for drying time on the line. If I don't it gets backed up.
I don't have to sweep because I can vacuum the entire house and I do
Bathe Claire every night before bed it is a part of her bed time ritual
Clean Bathroom, Deep clean every week and spot clean daily if I have time sometimes I forget to wipe out the sinks and mirrors. However if I do spot clean daily I don't have to deep clean so much.
Wash my hair every other day I do tend to worry about my needs last...
Wash sheets well, I wash them when there is a full load but I change them weekly and or more if there is a need such as a leaky diaper, puke etc.
Ironing I do it rarely, for myself or daughter. My husband does is own.
Cooking, I do it daily for all meals most of the time.
Grocery shopping about 3 times per week sometimes more. I live in Europe our Fridge is very small as most Europeans are. I can go to fresh markets daily so that is nice for a person who likes to cook like myself.
Dust well that is were I am a slacker about once a month or before company comes lol. But I have to say I got this wall cabinest that has doors and it does not get dusty much in our living room however being short I often don't see the dust eaither on wall shelves etc. I will on occasions leave some dinner dishes for the next day.
I do not like to clean but I have to admit I like a clean house and can be a bit of a neat freak at times. i hate clutter! My husband is terrible about putting things away in their place drives me nuts

[deleted account]

I have a lived in house and would much rather spend time with my son getting messy than hours cleaning. But this is my schedule as such.

Dishes: once a day, I unload the dishwasher in the morning and reload it it throughout the day. It goes on at some point everyday.
Mop floors: Once a month - only kitchen floor to mop, bathroom floor is so small I just wash it on my hands and knees, I'm not sure a mop would fit in my bathroom lol.
Sweep floors: weekly
Vacuum: Twice a week including bathroom and kitchen floors, more if my son makes an almighty mess on the floor (or if my hubby does for that matter).
Scrub the carpets: Daily when my son gets sick or wee or poo or food on the carpet I have to clean it so it doesn't stain.
Laundry: I do at least one load daily, dry it in the tumble dryer now it's winter in summer I line dry everything but my towels (I like them soft and fluffy from the tumble dryer not hard and crispy like the line makes them).
Bath my son: Every couple of days, unless he is filthy.
Shower me: Every other day including hair wash.
Clean bathroom: At least twice a week, my hubby misses A LOT he's too busy playing target practice, would you believe he's 27 yo for goodness sake.
Dust: Er Whats that...quarterly (every 3 months or so)
Cook dinner: pretty much everyday unless I'm feeling really sick, then hubby does it.
Lunch: Everyday I've got to feed me and my son.
Grocery shop: Delivered weekly (I hate supermarkets).
Ironing: When I can be bothered, I have a pile as big as me that needs doing I will psyche myself up to it this week, I've got to!
Tidy toys: Constantly
Clean Kitchen: Daily wipedown of surfaces
Wash sheets: Monthly maybe a bit longer if I forget.
Clean bedrooms: Monthly.

I take the weekends off and spend time with my family so Monday is always a big cleaning day for me.

@ Christine Cook. I'm always so glad to hear stories like yours (not the marriage counseling part, but ya know what I'm getting at). Your husband sounds like a great guy who has grown with you over the course of your relationship. I'm sure he appreciated you working so hard on your home even before the counseling, but sometimes guys like your/my hub feel they have to take their command presence to a "dictator" level. Once a man realizes that his wife WANTS to please him, he will lead with kind, loving dominance and not selfish control. The same goes for us though - women sometimes forget what our guys go through and as men don't show their emotions like we do, it can come out as bitterness and anger. It's just a matter of knowing your man and bringing the best in him out. Just like he does you!

When it comes to my kitchen, everything gets done before we go to bed.

Dishes: they get piled in the sink until I have an empty dishwasher. I hate doing dishes. If the dishwasher is empty (or my cabinets are empty and dishes need to be put away...) then everything is rinsed off and put in the dishwasher immediately. My husband doesn't let me put pans in the dishwasher so those are washed as soon as they've been used.

Mop floors: we don't own a mop or anything of the sort! If someone makes a mess, I pull out one of my two thousand (or so it seems) dish rags and clean it up (with a little soap if needed). Every couple of months I'll get down with a rag and bleach water and clean the whole kitchen and dining room floors. Bathroom floors are only done as needed.

Vacuum: Pretty much never... Terrible, I know. Its usually once or twice a month but that's it. I think I might hate vacuuming even more than doing dishes!

Laundry: My son's is done usually once a week. He's got enough clothes, blankets, and towels to get him through a week. I do mine and my husband's as it comes up. Towels for the master bathroom are done when they've all been used. Then I wash the rugs and shower curtain if needed at the same time. Towels for the guest bathroom are only ever done when we have company but have to be done in two different loads - smart me did black and white!

Clean bathroom: This is all done as needed. I hate seeing toothpaste in my sink and my husband is SO good at putting it there!

Dust: I've never heard of such a thing... We moved into this house 7 months ago and I've not yet dusted. If I happen to see something that looks really bad I'll wipe it off with a damp rag.

Cook dinner/lunch: I cook dinner every night. Lunch is dependent on what I feel like. Most of the time its some kind of pasta and my son is chicken or hot dogs (or my pasta...). Every weekend my husband does pancakes and eggs for breakfast.

Grocery shopping: Every day it seems! With the new area, we don't know anybody and so we take our time out of the house and go to the grocery store! We split our shopping trips between two different stores depending on sales and current prices.

Wash sheets: We have 3 cats that like to sleep in our bed. I HATE the cat hair... Its done as often as I can remember. Up to once a week sometimes every two weeks. My son's bed I try to do once a week. He drools all over it and the cats like to sleep on his bed.

Ironing: Until recently I wasn't able to press anything... REALLY bad history with irons and an ex. I still don't do it unless its necessary. My husband wears jeans and polo shirts to work and I don't have anything that needs pressing. If something is particularly wrinkly, I put it back in the dryer with a damp wash cloth or hang it up in a steamy bathroom.

About that kitchen... After dinner is the big clean. My husband takes charge of the boy and I get all the dishes loaded, everything hand washed that needs handwashing, wash the counters and stove, wash the cutting board, shake out rugs, sweep, and wash the sink. The sink is always last and usually once a week I have to scrub it with Cameo. For some reason it rusts really easy. Part of my kitchen cleaning routine includes scrubbing my wedding ring. And its REALLY sparkly when all is said and done :D. It sparkles even when the lights are off! So I guess cleaning the kitchen is entirely worth it!!

Wash dishes: Usually once a day, in the evening
Mop Floors: Not nearly enough. Sometimes, I'll go months. That's one thing that I constantly forget about.
Sweep Floors: Not a routine.
Vacuum: I try to do it at least once or twice a week.
Do the laundry: Usually once a week for ours. Either once or twice a week for the baby's.
Bathe the kids: 3 times a week.
Wash your hair: About every 2-3 days.
Clean bathroom sink & toilet: I try to get it once a week.
Dust: Whenever i see it, i mean whenever it looks bad. Can be a week or so.
Cook dinner/lunch: I usually cook dinner every couple of days. (I try to have leftovers for other days so I don't have to cook) My daughter's only 8 months, so I don't have to cook her lunch yet.
Grocery shopping: Once weekly, unless we run out of diapers, and they can't last til the next shopping day.
Wash sheets: Every couple of weeks.
Ironing: Before going places or to church. I don't care about the clothes I wear around the house looking bad.
I don't have a whole lot of energy, and my little one wears me out, so sometimes I would rather nap when she's sleeping than do chores. I am getting better at getting the more important things done though.

Wash dishes: Once a day maybe but usually the sink is full before I get to it
Mop Floors: Like you... do it as it looks bad really or maybe once every few weeks (or once a month sometimes)
Sweep Floors: again, maybe once in a few days
Vacuum: about once a week in the main room, in the bedrooms it will sometimes go for a month or longer : /
Do the laundry: my hubby actually does this about once a week but I have been trying to get to it before the weekend although that rarely happens
Bathe the kids: usually every second day
Wash your hair: every other day
Clean bathroom sink & toilet: I don't really have a schedule for this... usually do it when it needs it... which might be a few weeks
Dust: when it bothers me (could be really long) or when I'm having people over and it looks bad... lol
Cook dinner/lunch: I cook a lot; usually almost every day or every other day (which makes me have to do more dishes but oh well) I steam veggies a lot (ziplock steambags and use a lot of bagged meals or canned veggies and rice or beans ... I'm basically a vegetarian that eats meat occasionally
Grocery shopping: usually about every 2 weeks... more if needed
Wash sheets: I try to change them once a week and since we have multiple sets they get washed about once ever few weeks
Ironing: I never iron.. I can't stand it; I only iron if I have a big important work day or meeting or something like that and since I don't work right now... that's never!

Wash dishes: CONSTANTLY lol...it seems like it's never ending with them.

Mop floors: I'm bad with this, but lately it's been about once a week or when they get bad.

Sweep floors: I was bad with this but now I do it every day so that it doesn't get bad.

Vacuum: I was just looking at my floors this morning and thinking 'I need to vacuum today' lol. I try to do it a few times a week for the living room....the bedrooms I need to do more often cos of dust.

Laundry: I try to keep on top of it. My daughters gets done once a week cos she doesn't dirty much.

Bathing: My daughter gets a bath once a week because she has really dry skin. She gets hands and face washed every day as well as her teeth every day.

Wash hair: I'm lucky if I get a shower 2 times a week any more I swear.

Bathroom sink/toilet: I do the toilet as it's needed and the sink I pick up every day because my boyfriend is a slob. He does the bathtub when it needs it.

Dust: This is the chore I loathe. When I see it, I get rid of it. I hate dusting. Feels like it's never ending.

Cook dinner/lunch: Every day I make something. Have to learn to have quick fixes for those days you don't feel like cooking.

Grocery shopping: 1 big trip twice a month and sometimes run back out a few times for milk and such.

Wash sheets: We're bad with this too lol...we go about 3 weeks with ours but my daughter we do once a week with her laundry.

Ironing: We don't even own one haha. My boyfriends work clothes are wrinkle resistant and unless we have something like a wedding to go to, we don't iron lol. Waste of time I could be spending with my little girl.

Pick up toys: EVERY day, about 4 times a day lol. My daughter now empties ALL of her toy bins in the living room so I am constantly picking them up.

i hate cleaning! its a like shoveling in a blizzard when you have kids.... heres my "list of chores"
shower myself: once a day while kids nap
bathe kids: every day, or at least every other day
dishes: once a day, after kids nap.
sweep/mop kitchen: when crumbs start sticking to my bare feet.
vaccuum: everyday, or at least every other day.
laundry: i would love to do it every other day but dont currently have a washer/dryer so we have to go to laundromats once a wk or so.
dust: never
bathroom: when its so gross i cant take it.
pick up toys/kids room: at least every other day.
my room: never clean, no kid zone bc all the clothes that i still cant fit back into are strewn all over.
trash: HIS job.
windows: once a wk. *only our sliding glass door though.

i wish i had a "smart house" that would clean itself... although im glad i have kids to help take some of the stress off me! kids are the perfect personal maid, hahaha. jk jk.

Vacuum: Daily have to considering the stuff my 3yr old gets into.
Wash my hair: Every second day
Clean kids room: Atm only once a week with the twins and for 3yr old every 3 days because she likes to pull her toys out one by one.

Hi Wendy. I'm with you, my husband and I own 2 businesses and my husband will start work the moment he wakes up and stops when he goes to bed. There's always phone calls or internet auctions finishing or emails and he works hard all day long. It wouldn't be fair if he came home to a house (that he provided for his family) that didn't match that hard work. I now enjoy making sure the house is beautifully cleaned the boys are bathed and ready for bed and dinner is cooking and close to being on the table.

However there was a time when he expected all this and would tell me how it was to be done to his standards, like when I vac carpet the strokes all had to be in one direction so it looked like it had been professionally done. After six years of this I got mad that if all my hard work wasn't done exactly as he wanted is wasn't done well enough and stopped doing house work altogether. Well we ended up nearly divorced but 10months of counselling later he doesn't care about how I do things but appreciates that I do. Every night when he gets home he tells me how beautiful the house looks and what a good Mum I am to the boys. He also cleans his bathroom (we have our own bathrooms) and says he gets a great sense of fulfillment out of doing that one thing in the house for me. The other day I even found him outside cleaning the patio I was amazed and felt like I was the most important person to him and not another one of his employees who he tells how things should be done.

@ Wendy - most women dont think this way anymore. im not sure if our culture is headed in the right direction. i feel sorry for your husband working such long hours and never being able to switch on.

my husband has been a bit like this in his new job for the past 3 months and i dont know how much longer i can cope. i hate not having him home before 7pm :( i try to do things for him too, but im usually too exhausted from my day with my two little ones that by 7pm i just want to conk out on the couch.

Ladies, rest assured that everything I do for my husband is because I LOVE doing it. I consider it a fair trade for everything HE does for his family. Yes, he has a demanding corporate job (CFO). He'll start working in the morning soon after he gets up, with phone calls, emails etc and he doesn't stop...well...ever. He is never "off the clock" with his job and oftentimes will be on conference calls at 10:00 at night depending on his boss' mood or because of business different time zones. And of course he does make time for me and honestly treats me like a princess, but this strand was about our work as wives and moms. :) I do get massages and plenty of special treatment by him. That is one of the main reasons I do so much for him - after all of the stress and pressure and long hours, I feel totally loved, appreciated and respected. I hardly consider it a "chore" to press his clothing or rub his feet. We're both very busy people trying to run our family and if I didn't do my part I would feel lazy. He wouldn't stand for it though. He keeps me in line (in a good way) and makes me realize that doing my part is nothing less than wholly fulfilling. Truth be told though - if he worked a regular 8-5 I would still do all of these things for him. He makes me WANT to do these things. His energy is infectious and his high standards set an example for me and the kids. :O) Don't under-appreciate your husbands. They go to bat for you every day, and I just believe that to have them come home to order and comfort is the least we can do as SAHM's.

Your not lazy by any means, you may not have a magazine perfect house all the time but your not lazy:

Dishes\Counters: Daily
Laundry: Daily
Cook dinner: Daily except for the two nights I go to school.
Pickup toys etc: nightly...I don't like tripping on them
Grocery shop: When really needed
Wash linens: once a month
Clean bathrooms\floors: once a week sometimes every other week. depends on how bad they get.
Vacuum: as needed, sometime daily sometimes weekly sometimes not for a month.
Bathe kids: try daily but probably every other day.
Shower myself: daily for the most part. including my hair.
Homework: daily
Get dressed out of my PJ's: Only when going somewhere where I have to. :)
Dust: If I am having company, one friend doesn't count.
Trash: every other day.
I mostly don't like bad smells, so as long as I get things done that will cause bad smells (dishes, trash etc) I am good. I can let everything else go if need be or just feel like I don't want to do it, which is every weekend (thats family time) and about once or twice a month during the week.
