I would say,the best thing to do is just try to keep everyones immune system up,eat healthy,take plenty of vitamins.Are you breastfeeding your 2 month old? Babies that are breastfed usually have a pretty good immune system.I choose to not give my children the vaccine,they say it's really not helping anyway and was told that if we knew what really was in the vaccines we'd never get them.Have you ever asked your doctors and nurses if they get the vaccine shot,most of them don't!

I would try not to worry too much,I imagine that if you are breastfeeding & taking your vitamins (I've found that taking extra vitamin D in the winter time -when your not getting as much sunshine- has helped us more to stay clear of the flu),your baby probably wouldn't even get it too bad.And as some of the others commented,I think the media does a good job of trying to scare everybody;when it's really not such a big deal.

I just posted the same concern on facebook!! I'm scared to take my babies out of the house. An 11 yr old in our area recently died from the H1N1. I'm also an RN who usually takes these things lightly. This virus however, really has me scared. My only advice is to stay educated. Go to the CDC website & educate yourselves. And by all means: WASH, WASH, WASH your hands!

Well the Media has done their job. They are great at scaring people. Like Karen said people die every year from the regular flu. They also die from colds and regular common infections. You just need to live your life enjoy your child and use wise judgment. Wash your hands regularly, and be aware of things around you. I hope you can get over your fear.

My 13 and 10 year olds, as well as my husband and I, all got hit with the swine flu in July. From my experience, it was much easier for the kids than it was for my husband and I, and easier for my 10 year old than it was the 13 year old. Hubby and I had 10 solid days of a fever of 100 - 104... MAJOR body and headaches, cough, etc. (By far the worst thing I have ever been through... including the norwolk virus I also had this summer) 13 yr. old had 4 days of fever, 6 days of body aches, etc. and about two weeks of cough... 10 yr old had 2 days of fever, a few aches, and a cough for a few weeks.

There is nothing anyone can do for any of it. The only thing you can do is make sure you are washing hands, using sanatizer, not letting him suck on things, etc. If he does get it, or any other illness, make sure you are giving him any type of liquid you can get down him... good or bad for him in general.

And as others have said, people die from the regular old flu all the time... my sisters dad did a few years ago.

I'm extremely nervous about my children getting the swine flu. All I know is that when the vaccinations come out in October you can bet I will be the first one in line getting my family the h1n1 shot :)

Thats understandable. I'm nervous about my 2 year old getting it too. That is why I decided to do some research about it, it actually made me feel better. Education is the best way for me to ease my fears about it. The main points I'm finding are to not let anyone sick around the baby and hand washing are the best defenses.

I know about the vaccine but children cant get it until they are at least 6 months! I do know people are making it sound worse than it really is but I would even be nervous about a 2 month old getting the regular flu! I guess I feel like his body wont be able to handle it because hes so little!

All I can say is if you are taking all the universal precautions, then that is all you can do. They are working on a vaccine, but it is not ready yet, at least not where I live. I've done some research on this and what I am finding is that it is really not any worse than the regular flu, people are just getting upset because it is called "Swine Flu." Milliions of people die from the regular old flu each year.
