My 5 month old has been seriously teething for about a week now, she has had a mild diaper rash that appeared at the same time that I can't get to go away. I have tried about every cream on the market and have had no luck. I change her frequently and use sensitive wipes and creams at every change, but nothing makes it go away. Any advice?

Corn starch is the best to use for a diaper rash, trust me it works wonders I have use that on my kids... cheap and works great use it after a change of diaper, and shower... you get the stuff you cook with for making gravy.... best there is...

I was told for a severe diaper rash use equal parts of malox and Aquaphor healing ointment. My pediatrician recommends it, and I had to use it for my daughter, cleared up her severe diaper rash quick!! You just mix it up in a separate container, and apply a thin layer over effected area evey time yo change diaper!. Hope maybe that will help! Good LUCK!!!

she might have a yeast infection. That is what happened to my son when he started teething.

low doses of infant tyenol, a little airing out, baby powder when she does have a diaper on, and a little TLC should show improvements!

Well we went to the doctor today and she does indeed have a yeast infection. She was on an antibiotic recently for a little cold like bug that wouldn't go away, and the Dr. said sometimes an antiobiotic and trigger a yeast infection. She's getting a special cream on her bum now and it's starting to look better already! Thanks again everyone!

my daughter has the same problem. When she is teething, she gets diarreah which causes terrible diaper rash.
I learned from a friend that there is a diaper rash ointment that you can buy over the counter, but they don't put it on the shelf, you have to ask the pharmacist for it... Flanders Buttocks Ointment. It seems to work better than any other ointment I've tried. Go to the pharmacy counter and ask if they have it.
I also stopped using any baby wipes, even one's for sensitive skin (except 4 when we are not at home). Use a warm washcloth with water only. And leave diaper off for a little while to make sure skin is good and dry before applying ointment.

BABY POWDER! It has saved my baby's bottom! She has the same exact issue and we tried everything even went organic and bought expensive all natural creams and they worked better but nothing just got it to go away than my mother-in -law suggested the old baby powder that she used on her children years ago. IT WORKED! with in 4-5 hours of putting it on at every change her rash was significantly better and in 2 days all together gone. Now we use it every change and have had no rashes and she is still teething. Try it out! I have also heard cornstarch although I have not tried it.

the teething has everything to do with the diaper rash my sons teething as well and has a diaper rash to you may want to try desiten if that dosent work talk to your pediatrician and they can usally percribe you some cream and another reason that may be for the diaper rash is you dont want to use wipes on it cus wipes have chemicals that irritate the skin and can sting and burn them as well so use a warm washcloth with only water and try that plus the cream your pediatrician gives you and that should clear up soon hope i could help:)

Another thing is to use a hair dryer on LOW and held away - but it helps dry it out quicker. My daughters Ped. told me it was from teething, too lol guess they all different. If its oozing or bleeding go to the doc and it might be a yeast infection. Something that I never knew babies got til mine got one. The doc will give antibiotics for that..... good luck!

Really? My doctor always assured me that it was so bad because of the teething. I guess it depends on your doc!

My son gets this way, too. The drs. all will tell you that diaper rash is NOT a sign of teething. THAT'S A CROCK. My son NEVER has diaper rash except for when he is cutting teeth. Anyway, I had to get my dr. to prescribe a steroid cream. It works like a dream. You apply it at least twice a day and if it's really bad, you can apply it at every diaper change. We use it ONLY when he is getting that really bad rash from teething and in one or two apps. it's gone.

Bum in the sun - but not in mid hot day of course. & lots of nappy free time!
Papaw ointment, Calendula ointment or coconut oil are three completely naturall & extremely effective lotions to use!

Lavander & chamomile essential oil baths (must be quality oils)

Homeopathic Chamomilla remedy 6 or 12 c will really help with teething side effects along with soothing & relaxing them - great at night or when they are distressed.

Good luck - it will pass...

yup happens to my little girl all the time.... I used I think Johnson's Triple paste or something that has helped the best. Try letting her air out like ppl mentioned. One thing I do is after cleaning her up just flap the new diaper over her to create a breeze then put on the creme. and don't worry it goes away after the teething...

My son has had eczema since the day he was born, and ended up with yeast infections resulting in a totally raw little bum every time he teethed. It really didn't go away until the teeth came through, but lots and lots of air (thankfully we have hardwood floors, so letting him run around diaperless wasn't too big a deal), and Nystatin cream, as one of the other moms suggested, helped a lot. Also try putting a little bit of oatmeal in the bath with her. Oatmeal does wonders for the skin. Good luck! I hope the teeth come through soon!

My daughter does the same, she can get pretty raw. I just use a wipe then aquaphore to make a water barrier. She usually clears up by the next day... It's worth a try.

A lot of times teething rashes are or end up being yeast infections. Like someone else said, let it air out for awhile everyday until its completely gone.

Also don't put a cream on it, they are made to lock in moisture which only makes it worse. My son's ped recommended that I use Zeasorb AF powder on him (he is allergic to other RX treatments). Talk to your childs ped and see what they suggest you use!

My son had the same thing. Take her to your ped. There is a cream that you put on but also use some milk of magnesia on top of the cream. The rash is b/c of the teething. My ped. told me that there is some acid when the tooth pokes through and it will burn their bottom. The milk of magnesia takes the sting away. It took a few days of using the combination for the rash to heal up. I used it every diaper change though the package says 4 times a day. ( my son had bleeding open wounds from it though he wasn't super cranky because of it.) It is a Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream. I promise this combination cream and milk of magnesia works. My ped told me and a pharmasist told my older sister about it (my nephew got rashes everytime a tooth poked through).

Try letting her butt air out. Too much moisture might not let the rash heal.. Did u try the bourdeux butt paste?? That stuff works wonders.. BUT.. put it on AFTER you let her butt dry out.. The creams are supposed to protect the skin and provent moisture from getting to the irritated area..
