Help!! My 21/2 yr old daughter refuses to use the potty or toilet. She was fully out of diapers a few months ago and even woke up in the night to pee in the potty but now she wants to wear diapers again. It is so frustrating. Any tips on how to get her back on the bandwagon? This is purely a power struggle (one of many to come over the years I'm sure!)

I've just had another baby so I'm sure that's why she is regressing. Should I just wait till she decides to use the potty again on her own ? Any helpful suggestions are welcome ;)

Keep going with the potty never revert back to nappies now she has been out of them. This is a protest to the new baby. She sees all the attention the baby is getting and is getting in on the act. The best way to counter act this is to make a fuss about doing the babies nappy and saying how pleased you are that she is a big girl. Praise her for peeing in the potty or toilet and involve her in changing the smelly nappies of the baby. Ask her to get the nappies, wipes, cream and so on. Make a big fuss.

Also make time for her at bedtime. Make sure she has 100% of your attention at bedtime no baby. Talk to her about her day and always end the day with a big girl hug.

I think you will find she will revert back to being toilet trained when things settle at home. My daughter regressed for about a month as well which was very annoying. We had not had a baby she just decided that going to the toilet was boring. Most kids do regress at some point. So it is not all the babies fault!
