my lil girl is 9 week old and has an umbillical hernia the doctor said its the muscles and shud go wen she starts crawling or walking any advice on how to setlle her or if any1 elwe has been through the same thing

My baby has an umbilical hernia. It was extremely large (4 inches long and 3 inches wide - like a giant nose sticking out of his belly). He had surgery to repair it at 10 weeks old, but he also had an inguinal hernia so the surgery was more for that, the umbilical one was done at the same time for cosmetic reasons. However the surgery didn't work and the umbi hernia is still there but it doesn't stick out like it used to. We are hoping it will go away on its own when he starts walking but its looking like he might need a second surgery.
Usually, most umbilical hernias go down on their own when the muscles strengthen from walking and running around. Tummy time does help but core strength really comes from standing, walking and running. Most go away on their own between 18 months and 3 years of age.

My older son had an umbilical hernia and it healed all by itself at 10 weeks. I never had any issues with him being fussy over it. I'd ask the doc for medical advice. Just know that they do go away and she'll be fine...my son even has an inny belly button after it (which I was a little worried about)
