Walking on tippy toes?

When my daughter started walking she would walk on her tippee toes. She is now 2 and still does it.. My nephew 18 years old and walks on his toys and so does his dad and he is 40 years old lol. Sometimes they will grow out of it and sometimes they dont. I was talking to my mom the other day and she told me when i first started walking i would curl up my toes and walk on the top of my toes lol Its very normal for a child to walk like that

Just an update, he only does it now when excited or in a hurry, so he CAN denifinitely walk properly, but sometimes he doesnt want to and I got used to it, I'm sure he'll get over it when he's older. Thanks :)

My daughter too at that age....she grew out of it.

My niece did that at that age I think she did it because it was something new she discovered. She's 3 now and doesn't do that anymore.

Same here. Daughter did it at approximately the same age as everyone else's children give or take a couple months. Doctors said it is usually a muscle or tendon thing, which they grow out of within a year. They recommended reminding her to walk "flat" on her feet. I always thought it was because she just wanted to be taller. When she got taller, she stopped tip-toeing. (^_^)

lol, maybe turn it in to a game like tell him to stomp like an elephant when he does start to tiptoe.

My daughter did that for what seemed like forever! :D..She did not start walking until she was 13 months old and she was constantly walking on her tippy toes like a little ballerina. Keeping shoes on her feet helped, even houseshoes made her do it less. She will be 4 in March and walks completely normal now, with an occasional tippy toe flashback. So I put her in ballet, hopefully all that practice will pay off : D

my niece started doing it when she was about 3 years old(she is now 6) and it has caused problems with the tendons ,they have tried special shoes , both her legs in plaster and special exercises, if she doesn`t improve she might need an operation to relax the tendons.

just try to remind your child as often as possible to walk flat.

My daughter is 22 months and has been tiptoeing since she was about 15 months, I told her pediatrician and she said that she's fine (she checked her ankles or something) and she said she would grow out of it. She still does it now, but not all the time...

Both my boys use to do it, but don't anymore and they are now 3 and 5.

my brother did that as well, he was diagnosed as flat footed. it didn't hurt him any he was active in sports, hockey, baseball and football. and he also served in the military. he will be fine and grow out of it.

It's pretty normal, most kids do it at some stage. It should stop after a couple of months, if it doesn't maybe talk to your doctor or podiatrist.

I hope it's the same with him :) His father walks on tiptoes sometimes....maybe he just takes after dad!

My sister did it - so much so that we called her Tippee Toes! She stopped eventually. My Daughter did it as well, for about a year, when she was 2 1/2 ish? she stopped :)
