I mix it up with my kids. I have 8 and they all like the different variety. I always put fruit and veggie sticks with a homemade dipping sauce. Greek yogurt with fruit to mixin it. I also make different salads from pasta salads to tuna salads. Most without mayo just some olive oil. I am a chef so my kids have always goten a variety of diffenrent foods prepared different ways. It is kinda like a game.

I make fruits and veges fun. I make veggie chips. Squash, zuchinni, sweet potatoes. Slice them nice and thin and bake them on a cookie sheet for about 25 to 30 mins flip them about half way through baking. Sprinkle with some sea salt For the sweet potato chips sprinkle with cinnamon and a touch of sugar. Also grape tomatoes they are perfect size for little ones. They are very sweet and my kids eat them all the time.

Make his peanut butter and jelly in a pita pouch then add in thin slices of apples or bananas. Anything thing that goes well with peanut butter. You can also supplement his butter spread with almond butter or reall any type of nu butter.

Trail mixes with nuts and dried fruits, and othe things you would like to throw in it. Different tyrpes of dried fruit like apricots, plums, cranberries, things that maybe you would pass up because you ae not fond of the fresh variety. Dried fruits are always sweeter than fresh.
