I had veggie sushi--with the first, went into labor almost immediately (tho labor was over 24 hrs). Took longer to start with the other 2..perhaps the nori, perhaps the wasabi....Every time tho within 12 hrs I started labor.

CASTOR OIL helps induce labor. My girlfriend is an OB/GYN and told me to take 1 Tbsp castor oil, a raw egg, and my favorite ice cream and throw it all in the blender. Gulp it down! It didn't taste too bad and I delivered 13 hours later. Labor started about 1 1/2 after I drank the concoction. I highly recommend it!
I have heard, however, that if your body isn't ready, it just isn't going to happen no matter what you try. But this totally worked for me- I was dilated to 1 before drinking it.

I was 3 weeks over due with my daughter and I was miserable! So my mom bought me some casteroil (sp?) and I took it that morning and 8 hours later we went to the hospital for labor. It is sooo nasty but it worked for me! You can also try walking alot.

If your body is ready and your cervix is ripe, sex will work. The first 2 times I tried it I had Braxton-Hicks contractions. The next time I tried it (it'd been more than a few days) I went into labor within a few hours.

My mom's a midwife and was constantly telling me while I was pregnant that she always found the best method with all her clients to be sex. She said the important thing though, isnt just to have sex and assume it's done, but to make sure you orgasm, the orgasm will quite often trigger early contractions. Also, raspberry leaf tea helps the early contractions become stronger.

Well patience will do the trick! Dont understand why everyone is always in such a rush to go into labour. Ive got three boys was overdue with all of them and i just enjoyed my extra time with them. We are only pregnant a few times in our lives why not relax and enjoy it so what if it takes a week or two longer than its supposed to.

Dont listen to people saying to drink Castor oil..... Coming from a Labor & Delivery employee of 8+ years!!!!! Please read my earlier post. This is dangerous stuff & is NOT common for Dr.'s to even consider it!
We had mothers come in all the time after doing this to themselves.... (shaking my head) It was a regular struggle with mom's to keep the baby heart rate in a safe level.
Do you really want to harm your baby? Or poo all over the place? Think about it :)

When I was teaching Lamaze classes I told all of my parents about the "Italian Induction" which is a common name for what sex at term can also referred to as. This will help because to put it bluntly the hormones in the semen can help the uterus contract

Castor oil is a midwife trick but I think only if you are overdue and to avoid induction. Evening primrose oil pills are used to soften the cervix. you can take them at 36 weeks or insert them. Get on your hands and knees and clean your bathroom,I know it's the last thing you feel like doing but that postion helps the baby move down. Have sex and make sure you orgasm(sorry so graphic) but it's the semen and the uterine contraction from the orgasm that does the trick!
bottom line when nature is ready she will call!

Stimulate your nipples every 15 minutes then rest and start to stimulate again. I know that some doctors and my doctor too said that having sex during last weeks of pregnant help to have a good labor work. Good Luck.

Walking and staying active helps alot. I remember wanting to walk to the convience store (which was only a couple blocks away-and something I did almost everyday). I remember having to do the potty-break b4 I left. I realized I lost my birth plug. I wasn't in pain nor had my water broke. I tried to get a friend to walk with me (which was also pregnant). Needless to say, she refused becaue she was afraid I would go into labor on the way there or the way back. Although I still wasn't in pain, I finally went to the hospital as my mother suggested. Come to find out, I was 7 cm. dialated. So, because I walked alot, my labor wasn't as harsh and I delivered my son with great ease. My doctor always encouraged me to walk to help with the bringing on labor, and to help the pains. It prepares your muscles to contract the baby out.

Sex, once you have an orgasm certain endorphines are released to trigger labor.

when the child is ready, their brain triggers the secretion of a hormone that in turn triggers your contractions.
Just be patient and wait your turn.
Charlotte came at 42 weeks, right on time for her. I know, it's hard when your belly feels like it's going to tear itself off your body it's so big, but they all come out in the end!
Take the opportinity to just sit quietly and rest. You're not going to get the chance again for a looooong time.
Any old wives tale trigger is coincidence, the baby was probably going to come then anyway, and we only try these things around when they're due. Think about it.
And who is having sex at 42 weeks anyway!!! Good grief, we'd have been lucky if my husband could have reached me I was so big!

Karol syrup wont do anything. Its just corn syrup. What you need is Caster oil. I took two tablespoons after a pizza then walked around the block and I was in labor two hours later. An hour after that was in the hosptal and dialating. 12 hours later My son was born happy and healthy!!!
I must warn you....you will have bad stools!!! But the good thing about having empty bowels is that you wont poop during labor!! LOL!!!!

I worked for an OB/GYN for a couple of years and had girls asking what to do to bring on labor all of the time! Karo syrup might be worth a shot, but will probably only cause you to go to the bathroom. The one thing we ALWAYS told our girls was sex!! It is the one sure fire way to bring on labor. If you're not up for that, go for a good walk!! LOL

Truth be told from what I've read, us mommies have nothing to do with when labor begins. There is a hormone released by baby that goes to mommy's brain that begins labor. Wish I could tell you there's a miracle wonder that will start labor, but medically speaking there is not.
