What ideas for a Combined Birthday party??

Angela - posted on 06/04/2011 ( 5 moms have responded )

My sons birthday is in September and my daughters is in December, rarely do we have a birthday party for her because it falls at Christmas time and no one comes because of the snow as well. So this year I was thinking about having her party with my son.... any ideas on wording for the invites so I don't offend anyone?

How would you offend anyone?

Just say this year _____________and____________are having their parties together!!! Come join us.

If you fear offending your daughter, the better way is to host a separate party for her probably around first week of December or last week of November. If you have decided to host a joint party, talk to your daughter and explain her the reasons. Tell her that she will get equal treatment and you will allow her to invite as many guests as she wants. Also, in the invite, don’t mention that her birthday is in December and you are combining hers with your son’s. Declare that they both are celebrating their birthdays.

-Agreeing with Katherine-

It is a good idea what you are doing too :)

How old are your kids? Who are you worried about offending? Them?

Maybe make a whole different day some other time that isn't on your sons in order to please your daughter. Sometime mid-summer so it's really nice out and then just make sure on her real birthday to at least give her a card and a small charm bracelet or something that way she still knows it's her special day, no matter when her birthday is?

My sisters sons both have December birthdays and she has their party's at the same time every year. As a matter of fact I may throw in my daughter's this year too as her birthday is at the end of November since it's basically the same people coming. Just go with something like what Katherine said.
