im a first time mum and doing a course for five weeks about how to teach yr little one before and when they are at school, im interested in things that we can do with them outside of the home to entertain them. i don't know many people where i live but would like to have ideas of what i can do.

if the weather is decent, take your little one out into the yard. My daughter was fasinated by worms, bugs, different flowers and leaves. It teaches them not to be afraid of anything and of course teaches about the beauty of nature!

There is also meetup.com, which has a ton of mommy groups in your area. I am a member and it's very helpful.

I got a family membership at the YMCA for my 13 month old and I. I have enrolled her in swimming lessons and she will start a Mom and Tot tumble class in the spring/summer. We also go to a place called Funtastic which has childrens indoor gym equipment and another place called Urban Toddler. There are lots of play places and playgroups out there.

How old are your little ones? maybe go to a park and let them play or go on a walk through your neighborhood. try meeting other parents in your area with children close in age and set up play dates. it gives you a chance to make new friends and your children get the interaction with others as well.
