I love being a stay at home mom, but my children are 8 years apart and it seems like I have two only children! My oldest, is 13 and is in middle school. I love going to his sports functions and now he is involved with girls. What do I do about the dating thing? My youngest is 4 and she acts like the boss! I have a hard time getting her to clean her room and even listening is a challenge. Any good tips on either child's situation?

I guess try to pay them as much attention as you can make one day of the week about one and one day of week about the other and weekend some time with both of them alternating which one chooses the activity.. mine a re 8 yras apart too ...could use advice too

Sorry but to the whole dating thing I would worry because these kids are maturing a lot faster than we did and can and will get prego or worse.Just always keep in your mind how you and your guy friends were when that age and then see how he is now...Just because you don't see anything happening doesn't mean they are not thinking or doing it.Good luck!

hate to say this but you pretty much do have 2 only children! I grew up with one sister being 15 years older than me and another that is 8 years older than me. That's basically how we were too.
As for the dating thing with your son, have yall talked about sex yet? To me I wouldn't be worried about dating if your son is only 13, I think that's a little bit too young to start dating but to each their own.
Your daughter, what would you have done when your son was that age and tried to be the boss. Do the same thing. Or at least try it.
