I would do an underwater theme for a girls 1st birthday! You can hang blue & green) streamers everywhere (even some that the children can run through) have pictures of underwater creatures around the room and even chuck in a mermaid or 2! You could make a simple cake and decorate it with those chocolates that are shaped like shells or maybe make it shaped like a fish. For added effect you could get yourself a battery run bubble blowing machine and have it going as well (all children like bubbles). That is what I would do anyway hope it helps!! Goodluck!!

you know what!! This may be cliche' BUT !! I thin k@ one they don't really have their little favorites yet so with Maddie I just did bright stripes and polka dots and you can find SO SO SO much stuff to match. Little napkins with the 1 on them and everything!! Then I had a three layer cake made bottom layer with stripes then polka dots then stripes again!! It turned out so fun and colorful!!!!!!!!

I was going to recommend birthdaydirect.com but someone has already beat me to it! It must be popular! Try to keep your party small - we, as parents, sometimes go overboard on their first birthday but it can be a bit overwhelming for the little ones. It's a wonderful milestone to celebrate so take lots of pictures!
