when do you transition your baby to milk

My son had to be changed with advice from his Dr at 9 months. We would put 2oz of milk in with his normal bottle(but cut back 2oz of formula) and he was on a full bottle of milk by 10 months. If i was you i would ask your Dr before doing this but right now is the good age to start transition. Just add a bit to the normal bottle so he doens't reject it when its all milk.

I started all three of my kids on cow's milk at about 11 months.. They were also all nursed until they were 1 1/2 years old. I had no problems, I know they didn't need the cow's milk because of the breast milk but they really enjoyed it.
I also gave them flavored rice milk and soy milk loved that as well.

12 months is recommended. If you are still breastfeeding, there is no need for cows milk. My son is almost 19 months and still nursing. He does have a little milk here and there, but gets most of his dairy through cheese and yogurt. When you do introduce cows milk make sure it is from cows not treated with hormones. There is some good local milk here in the grocery that doesn't, and I don't think crowley uses hormones either. Since we don't drink very much I can afford to get Organic Valley milk. There is always $1 coupon on their website.

If you are still breastfeeding and plan to continue on past 1yr theres no reason he needs cows milk. If hes on formula he should be on cows milk a year. I would started about a week before his bday, you want to slowly transition so he gets used to the new taste and so you can watch for signs of allergies. If he is taking an 8oz bottle start by giving him 6oz formula to 2oz milk, after a few days increase the milk and decrease the formula.
