Which is better?

I am really considering making my son's baby food. I have been doing a lot of research and came across the baby bullet, but have read a lot of negative reviews about it takes a really long time to get the product once you order. Others have said its cheaper to get a food processor or blender and you can also make bigger batches and freeze. So, which should I get? Food processor or blender? Also, what kind of trays should I get to freeze the food? Thanks for any info you can give me!

Well I made my first batch of baby food a few days ago. To my surprise and pleasure I already had a blender that purees food, just had to buy ice cube trays which as you know are super cheap. It was so easy to make and I enjoyed it! Made me feel like a good mommy! : )

All I have ever used (made all baby food for 2 kids now) was my blender and ice cube trays. Works great!!! Good luck!

I used a blender and ice cube trays. A lot of cooked food I could mash up with a spoon or fork like Carly did. Bananas are awesome for this! Mashed potatoes, soft cooked veggies, etc.

I don't think you need either! I just mashed up my kids' cooked vegies and fruits with a fork (and uncooked banana, pear, mango). Pureeing the hell out of food is unnecessary and a waste of your time. Just make to the right consistency with some formula, breast milk or water and off you go!

i would get a food processor if you can. I prefer them to blenders any day!

My advice is a stick mixer. No idea what a baby bullet is. I used to steam the veg/fruit and put it in a bowl and whiz it with the stick mixer and freeze it in ice cube trays then pop it out to defrost in the mornings.

I'd just get a blender. It's best to steam the food, you keep the most vitamins in the food that way. And you can freeze the food in ice cube trays. Use one cube at a time and when he's a bit older you can use 2 or more cubes.

I have the baby bullet.and i wouldnt do it any other way. i had a fair size sweet potatoe, and it made it sweet potatoe puree in only 10 seconds not one chunk in it.as for timing it took about 3 weeks to get.but i orderd it when my son was 2 months old so id have it for when im ready to start making food :) good luck to whatever you choose, thumbs up for making food

When my daughter was just starting on food I just used the blender that we had already, froze the food in ice cube trays and then put them in tupperware. Some of my friends bought the baby bullet and they ended up not getting it until their baby was already eating whatever they were eating (not blended). If you already have a blender then don't spend the money as what you have will do a fine job.

I just used a blender b/c we already had it & $$ was tight. It was a cheaper model and had a "processor attachment" which was really just a wide bowl shaped top, as opposed to the tall skinny top that came with it. I used both tops--whichever was clean. It worked wonderfully.

I stored the baby food in ice cube trays wrapped in plastic wrap. J usually ate 3-4 cubes at a time, but I liked it b/c I could adjust how much he ate as needed without having to thaw a big amount and waste what he didn't eat.

These trays are great and are only $5 each. They didn't have them when I was making food, so if you have trays already, just use wrap, but if you are buying trays, these are good because they have reusable lids--less waste!!

I got a handmill for right at the table. It worked well, as long as the food was soft to begin with. Often I baked a sweet potato or squash and just went at it with the potato masher. I bought 8 little containers that are just a little bigger than an ice cube for the freezer, and that was enough for me, because usually I just fed him one thing per meal, and put the leftovers in the freezer. If you already have a food processor, just go with that. I think the baby bullet is just a small version of it. I have a magic bullet, which I used sometimes to mash things for my son.

im not feeding my son food yet. but i will be using fresh veg and fruit and a blender.
My mother did it with the six of us, just blending whatever the family was having and feeding it to the baby.
I plan on freezing big batches in containers I have collected from fast food and ice-cream stuff like that.
Its a great idea, its so much cheaper and you know its all natural, whatever you put in, nothing added.
you can of course always buy a jar of ''fast food'' if you need to but blending and freezing is handy and safe for baby.
Just make sure to not add salt or anything not to be given to babies under a year (you can get a list from your public health nurse, or whatever nurse/doc you see in your country)
oh and you can make lovely snacks with blended fruits. and add breast milk or formula to blended banana for a nice breakfast.
Let me know how you get on, I will be starting myself in a few months time! xx
