My little girl turned six months one week ago and she has been crying in her sleep for about 3 weeks now. I have to hold her to calm her down and put her back a few seconds later. She will sleep for 2 hours then starts again. All answers will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My lila sleeps and crys as well and i really want to know why. She is 6 months too .My other childrens never had this problem before ....

It actually sounds like a developmental sleep disturbance to me. It sounds like she is about to crawl. Some babies are more effected by developmental milestones than others. If I am right, within a month she will be crawling and within a month of starting to crawl she will stop crying in her sleep. What happens is baby's brains practise new skills when they are asleep, some babies sleep through it, but others get woken up and dont know what's going on. If this is what is happening, it will probably happen again when she learns to walk.
Other than that, it could also just be teeth. But the fact that its every 2 hours is what makes me think its developmental.
From a psychologists point of view she is very young for it to be night terrors and night terrors last much longer than a few seconds.
Ride it out and see what happens.

Unless she is screaming, I would think it is more likely bad dreams than night terrors. Teething seems like a possibility, maybe try giving her Tylenol before bed and see if that helps.

had the same problems with my daughter, and she would scream and kick and punch and it could go on for a very long time and nothing would calm her. Was told she was have night terrors even in day naps, but i dont know. I had to be a soothing as possible with out disterbing her too much, but in the end i tried to wake her up and they stopped much quicker. All my family either sleep talks or sleep walks so i think it was a form of this. She is now 2 and they occour very,very rarely now, and when i wake her she settles right down. Dont know if this helps much but i know how frusterated and helpless you can feel when they are doing this..

She could be teething maybe she is un comfy try placing her to sleep on her side!

does she seem scared or just crying? could be dreams or night terrors.she seems young for night terrors though.

Maybe she's teething or sometimes a growth spurt will cause them to wake up hungry.
