Will it ever come off??

It's been 3 months since my daughter was born and I've only gone down from 184 the day I went into labor to 160. Have about 25 lbs left til I'm at my pre-preggo weight but really want to be 35 lbs down since I was a bit overweight when I conceived. I tried crash dieting (stupid I know but you know how your hormones get after delivery I want to be normal again!) but couldn't keep up with that, then worried if I dropped the weight too fast I would just be stuck with a saggy belly, so I'm just trying to eat small meals every couple hours. It's hard when I'm at home all day everyday to get the energy even to ride the stationary bike. What I'm getting at is, lol, does the weight ever come off naturally? I've heard "took you 9 months to put on the weight will take you that long to take it off". I mean, I'm not eating like I did when I was preggo, shouldn't my body be getting back to where it was?? Or am I delusional and every woman out there who has had a child works out at the gym 3 hours a day to get it back? I WISH I could afford a gym membership and had a trustworthy sitter!

What have you all experienced? I am pushing 30 guess I'm not where I used to be.

it's mostly hereditary, so blame your mum firstly, after that, just try going for a walk most days, for 20 mins one way, then go back, so 40 mins all up. You can take the pram (pain in the bum getting it out of the car and what not, but worth it once you're on your way)

Also I've just read about not dieting, but just not snacking between meals, other than tea or coffee or water, and only drinking juice with meals and only having one plate of food per meal, without anything piled on top of anything else. Really basic, but very do-able. I am also trying to not add extra suger to anything. It's ok to eat sugar that's already in something (as part of your platefull) but not adding extra, like to coffee, or on cereal, etc) I'm feeling good as it's not too much of a change.

It's slowly slowly. little changes add up over time. Only weigh yourself once a month, too, as hormones, water, food, etc all influence daily and weekly weight.

It also helps to go out and just buy 2 or 3 nice every-day outfits, like shirt and pants, that fit you well now, from Kmart or Target, not expensive, but comfortable and stylish and nice, for who you are now. Then you don't have to anguish over not fitting into your clothes.

PS, you'll never be who you were pre-baby, and anyone who looks like they are, isn't either. You're who you are now, not a year ago. Move the target a bit closer and increase your chances of hitting the bullseye.

Oh sweetie! Sending love ur way, here's my experience. With my first I felt the same way, but I had a csect and was so uncomfortable that I knew I would not be back down for awhile. i never got back down to pre prego weight, was 130 before prego 160 when she was born, when I got prego with #2, #1 was 13mths I was still weighing in at 140. With baby #2 got up to 163, nursed hime for 15 mths and never took off all the weight. Quit nursing Sept. 09 and by Dec. I was back down to 132. Was feeling great and then suprise here comes baby#3. Lol. Just remember that every body is different, I don't have a reliable sitter, nor can I afford a gym membership, I am not athletic and never have been. But I made sure that I ate healthy and drank enough water, my excersice is chasing 2 under 4 and soon 3 under 5 around all day. The weight will come off, but quit worrying and enjoy this very special time with ur little one it goes much to quickly to worry too much about shedding the lbs. Good Luck with ur endeavors and BTW I am pushing 30 too and a little scared about what #3 is gonna do to my body.

That's how I feel! Mine says all the time "you're getting there! you're almost back to normal!" I just look at him like he's lost his damn mind because "normal" is 35 lbs ago! Lol. He looks at me and I feel disgusting too! But he also gained a LOT of weight along with me, but you know how it is for men, they cut out a soda here and there and go to work and walk it off in no time! Not fair!! I cheated the other night with tacos and then home made pizza, made it as healthy as possible and didn't overeat (well I did with the tacos I LOVE tacos lol) but I'm still down the 2 lbs. It's easier when the man is at work cuz seriously, if he is at home, he eats constantly at night and I tend to join in!

Definately need to be weight loss buddies!! I think our encouragement to each other will help lots, I have no encouragement here....my man just says "he likes my buddha belly (as i call it) and that i dun need to change a thing" It does upset me when i catch him watch a skinny lil thing walking down the street, makes me feel inadequate and then i can't stand him looking at me, makes me feel disgusting. I need encouragement, when i see him looking at someone else like that I tend to get more determined, but that's not exactly the positive determination I am seeking. SALT IS THE BEST!!! But i have cut back...hard....i've cheated the last 3 days...had pizza and burgers...lol....I gained 2 lbs back lol.....Hey a week without greasy food i though i was doing good lol....Will try better though!!

We are working on getting a membership at the Y...because they work with everyone and deny NO ONE so if you can't pay much they will work with you, but I am not too keen on the child watch they have, I'm sure she will be fine for an hour (if I last that long even lol) but we'll see. I've finally dipped below 160 tho! Down to about 158 just by eating small portions every couple hours and trying to move around the apartment more. And Christine definitely we need to be weight loss buddies, because I LOVE salt too!! Lol it's so hard to cut out, I literally eat salt I use to justify it as a calorie free snack just cuz being a smoker for so many years i'm used to doing something with my mouth haha but I'm slowly getting away from THAT bad habit as well, havent touched a cig since I got pregnant yeah! Still having a hard time drinkiing water. I have one diet soda a day, and drink a few cups of green tea w/cayenne pepper and lemon because I have heard it helps speed your metabolism. I'm sure once I start working out (if I can!) the drinking water will pick back up!

Hey girl, just as they said, you're definately not alone. With my first child, I was 120 when i found out i was preggo, then after conceiving I was up to 145, I lost about 15 lbs after he wa sborn, then when he was a year old I found out i was preggo with number 2, I gained alot of weight, at time of birth i was about 170 lbs, then after his birth id idnt lose any weight until 2 mths later, now my youngest is 20 mths, my oldest is 3 years and I am still fighting with my weight at 150-155 lbs, it varies between these too and i can't seem to get any lower, it's frustrating and depressin I know. My children weren't exactly small babies either, my first was 9lbs, my second was 10lbs 4oz. Losing this weight is an everyday battle, but what seems to help a lil, I started to watch what i ate about a week ago and i lost 5 lbs so far. I drink lots of water, when i mean lots i mean 8-10 bottles a day. I cut out chips, pop and coffee, and I also quit smoking, which is very hard considering my kids make me wanna rip my hair out lots lol. I have cut WAY back on my salt intake, because i LOVE salt. I've tried to stay away form fast foods, if i get anything that is fast food it is usually subway with lots of veggies. I'll keep you updated on my progress, if you'd like to stay in touch and go through our attempts at losing weight, we can be weight loss buddies, lol all the luck to yougirl, just a few tips that seem to help me...so far. :)

I'd say you're very lucky to be that weight!

With my pregnancy I had gestational diabetes AND pre-eclampsia. Where I live they take both of those VERY seriously and most of the time (as the cases are very rare here) you're hospitalized. Well, I'm sure we all know how healthy hospital food is.... and on bed rest... Lets just say I put on about 70 lbs... and am still stuck at about 190.

And same as you, we cannot afford a gym membership or the daycare service they provide! My husband recently (after months of nagging) got me Zumba... oh... my... gosh, I love it! While my son is napping I do the 20 min express, sometimes twice in a row! I highly rec. It's fun and I don't feel like I'm working out!

Amy,
I do know for a fact that everyone's eating habits have a lot to do with things. What worked for me was not eating starch with protein...I lost a ton (sort a speak). Good luck and remember you ARE beautiful and all was worth it.. ♥

I am in the same position you are in. Im back down to my pre preg weight, but Id like to keep on losing. My body is nothing like what it used to be, Im a lot smaller on top but softer, and my hips are wider. That is hard to get used to. Im finally starting to lose weight recently as the weather is getting nicer. I walk with my daughter and dogs as long as I can every day, 30 min minimum. I also bought a baby and mommy yoga video, I love doing it because my daughter and I have fun together. I cant do anything that feels like working out, I cant get on a stationary bike, I just dont have the motivation. I try to fit in exercises using my daughter, again so we can have fun together. I do squats and use her as weights for some arm work outs. She has fun being moved around and I have a great 14lb weight!
Eating was my big issue, I am also a stay at home Mom and was eating a ton out of bordeom. Now that my daughter is eating regular foods its been a lot easier. I dont want her eating unhealthy foods so I have been buying tons of fruits and veggies and lean meats and its been easy.
Good luck!

I had high blood pressure that continued until I finished breastfeeding, then I dropped a bunch of weight. I guess my body was storing up fat and water for breastfeeding. I know you feel fat, but honestly, what is the most important thing right now is your baby so concentrate on that, not vanity. Believe me, when you have a toddler you will be running around like crazy so you really don't have to worry you will get plenty of excercize here soon.

My first child I went from 150 to 190. I breastfed for 2 months max and then just took care of her. By the time she was a year I was 130. With my second I was 130 and went to about 165. I breastfed for 13 months and got pregnant when she was 11 months. When she was 11 months I weighed 135. I am only 22 weeks pregnant and I weigh 143 now and all I do is clean and take care of my two toddlers.

[deleted account]

I started at 160 and a size 6 jeans cause im tall and got up to 185 when preggo. Now 15 long months later i have unfortunately gained 5 lbs on top of that 185 :( We are trying for our second so I am hoping I get morning sickness this time around and it makes my appetite smaller and I can start walking more since its summer now :) just waiting for the rain to go away here in ks.

ME TOO!!! I still have 25 pounds to lose too and my son is also 3 months old. I do notice my belly to be shrinking and I do really believe it takes your body a bit to get adjusted to not being preg. I have workout videos I do and also go to the pool, which is supposed to burn 2x as many calories as walking on land. I do notice it's just starting to come off SLOWLY.

I know exactly how you feel. I want it off now.

I been using the Firm Wave workout, its great because it uses step, stability core, cardio, weights and bands. And I been seeing results. the videos are about 30 mins w express sessions n 10 min ab workouts. My favorite part is the cool down stretches! Anyways, my hubby is deployed so I'm raising our baby alone and usually tire out my son with plenty of tummy time, playing n sitting so he can take a long nap mid morn n I can sneak in my workout & shower. I always feel great after and get energy to tackle the daily chaos. You can find the basic kit at walmart but I also use the addtl bands n dvd's. :) good luck!

I wish the best of luck to you. I gained 40lbs with my first and 41 with my second and lost all the weight within 5 weeks. Baby number 3 came when I was 30 and I gained 42 with her. The weight came off so fast my doctor was concerned. When my oldest were babies (only 16 mos apart), we lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment and believe me, carrying 2 sleeping kids at once was no easy task, but we went out as much as we could and found playgrounds. Just going outside and being active with your kids will make you thirsty and drinking lots of water will curb your appetite!. I never could afford a gym membership or expensive equipment either. If you have cable, turn on FitTV when you can. Just a thought. Best of luck to you

Amy, I was just reading your last post and maybe while the baby is sleeping go to your stairs and walk up and down them from your floor up or down which ever you can and then add the baby to a pouch and do it with her. Also, just turn on the music and make up your own exercise program. It'll be fun for you.

I'm not breastfeeding, we weren't able to do that so that isn't hindering anything, or helping, whichever way it would have gone for me I am not sure. I do want the Wii fit though!! Unfortunately our tv is too old to connect a wii so we have to save up to buy a new tv before we can buy a wii, but I thnk that would help as far as indoor exercise. I live on the 3rd floor of my apartment complex, off a busy road with NO sidewalks!! so we can't go for walks (believe me if I had a nice neighborhood to walk her around in I would be doing that daily! But lugging the stroller and her and diaper bag up and down 2 flights of stairs is near impossible by myself). I don't expect to be back to my pre-pre-pregnancy weight, just as long as I am fit and healthy and can wear pants with buttons! lol. I got on the scale today and it had moved down a pound. So I think it is coming off.

Needless to say, next pregnancy I will NOT be giving into my cravings as easily as I did this time! But I think most first time mothers do usually go overboard.

Thanks ladies for your support!

I lost it all by 6 weeks, but I'm only 20 and I guess just lucky? I have heard breastfeeding helps (which I am) but other than that all I can say is diet and exercise!

I just had my baby girl in March. I started at 169lbs and went up to 203lbs. I am now down to 185lbs. So I have about 16lbs to go. My hubby bought me a wii fit last June and it works wonders. It's awesome and has several different exercises on it. Are you breastfeeding? If you are, then you'll stay chunky until you wean her off. I did the first two times. I'm nursing my baby girl and I'm still chunky. It takes time for your body to recover from having a baby. I suggest getting a wii fit plus. I've been at it for almost 6 wks and I'm loving it. Just hang in there and you'll lose the weight.
And don't worry about your age; I'll be 31 next month. Good luck!

The weight may come off naturally for some people but I had to work at it. I went for walks with my son in the stroller and then made a little work out at home with my cans of veggies and bags of flour. For the most part women that breast feed usually have an easier time losing their pre preggo weight. Well, Good luck and I wish you all the best.

It's been 4 months for me and I can't seem to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight either. I exercise every day and I'm slowly feeling like I'm toning up a bit, but I want to see some results on the scale! You're not alone

Amy,
Are you breastfeeding bc I found that I did not lose alot at first but than I did lose most but not all. I have also noticed that my body is not the same and I do not think it will ever be. Do not get stuck on the numbers. I feel for you but try to take a breath and enjoy this time with your little one. Go for a walk when you can it will be good for both of you. None of us have personal trainers and chefs like the stars so we do the best we can. You only gave birth a few months ago so give yourself a break.

I was 125 pre-preggers with my first and got up to 165 (8lb 2oz baby). 15months later here comes #2 @ 135 and went back to 165 preggers. 12 months laters here I am at 150 and only 22. I've tried to lose weight it's just not coming off. I don't have a good baby sitter or a gym membership but chasing them around keeps me active Your not alone
