My 3 year old son is running a fever of about 102-103. He has had the swine flu already so I am not worried about that. My questions is...will milk make his fever worse? He is asking for milk and I have heard that milk can make a fever worse. Is this true? He has been drinking juice and water today, but is now asking for milk. What do I do?

Milk will not make his fever worse but it can curdle in his stomach. Best thing to do is let him have a small amount of milk while his fever is down from tylenol or motrin. He needs to stay hydrated. Do you have popsicles. My kids pediatricians say that is one of the best way to keep them hydrated. You can even get the sugar free or real fruit ones. It will help sooth his throat also so it is a win win situation. Gatorade is a good idea also, better than juice. It has more of what his body needs. Good Luck I hope he feels better soon.

It will absolutely NOT make his fever worse. Milk is an excellent source of nutrients and hydration, if anything it will be good for him. Who told you that?? The only concern is like everyone else has said, IF he has a gastro virus, then it might make him feel sick. But if this is not a stomach issue, then milk is completely fine.

Milk and fevers just do not mix! It doesn't make the fever worse but it will curdle in their stomachs and believe me cleaning up curdled milk isn't the funnest thing to do! I would just stick with the water and juice until the fever goes down.

I would try to avoid the milk til the fever breaks because milk will sour on his stomach and could make him start vomitng... Keep tryin to get him to drink juice and water and the store sells some pedialyte freeze pops maybe if he thinks he is getting a popcycle it will help keep his mind off the milk and pedialyte helps prevent dehydration

Milk will not make a fever worse. If anything, he probably needs to stay hydrated, and milk will help with that. Milk, juice, water, anything he wants to drink is probably OK.
