My little boy will be 6 months on April 2. I started him on rice cereal Feb 21, followed by oatmeal cereal, then started the first stage heinz veggies I believe it was March 5, followed by the first stage heinz fruits. As of today we have been through the first veggies/fruits (allowing 3 days between each new one). He showed all signs of being ready for solids and took to it all really really well. He loves it all except for the rice cereal so I only give him the oatmeal.

He gets 24-30 oz of formula/day. I give him 2 tbsp of the oatmeal cereal in the morning with a 6 oz bottle. I give him 2 tbsp of a veggie in the afternoon with a 4 oz bottle and then a tbsp of a fruit late afternoon (5pm ish) with a 4 oz bottle. He has a bottle in between and a bottle at bedtime.

Im not sure his weight yet (he gets weighed on Friday at his 6 month check up) but I know he is over 18lbs! He is a big boy, but a healthy one. I always get comments on how big he is, however I don't think he is abnormally big. His daddy was a VERY large baby, weighing 22lbs at 3 months strictly BF. I think he just has some of his genes lol. If I feed him less he would be hungry. I feel im feeding him proper but just want to hear what others are doing etc!

Thanks :)

Wow, you are very on top of it.  My youngest is now 10 months old and I don't think I've been that organized with any of my kids.  Good for you.  I know for me, I kept my kids off all the fruit until they were familiar with and eating all the veggies well.  I also liked making stews for the kids which they all seem(ed) to like.  A good one is to cook pasta, any type, with carrots, sweet potato, peas, califlower, potato and either breastmilk or formula.  Just cook until eveything is very soft then puree.  It is a great meal and you can keep doing the same thing as baby gets older just mashing instead of pureeing.  Another great baby food is cottage cheese as your little one begins trying new textures.  There is an amazing amount of protien in it and it mixes well into almost anything you serve.  My daughter has been loving it for the past couple of months!!   Another great thing to use is all those bananas that are starting to go brown.  They are the perfect consistancy for mashing and are so sweet the little ones just love them.

Sounds like you are doing an amazing job.  Just wait, it is so fun when they begin to feed themselves.  I love plain cheerios from about 7 months.  Watching their chubby little fingers trying to pick up an individual cheerio is absolutely adorable!!

Good luck with it all!!

Well, my girl is 8 months old and we are on stage 3 foods now. I just fed her as much as she want's when she's hungry. I guess a lot of people follow it by the books pretty closely, but that's what I have always done. She's a big girl too! He's probably not ready but I also give her the puffed gerber cereal. I tried one first and it litteraly dissolves in their little mouths so that's a good thing to start him on when he start's really moving things around in his mouth. Isn't it fun!
