Hi, just wanted to know if anyone has some advice for me regarding my step son. helives with his mother and we don't see him very often as he lives in different province. she spoke to me the other day and said that he might be suffering from depression. she said that he has become quite violent, my husband and i have spoken about it and thought that maybe he should come and stay with us for a while.

do you guys think that this might help, or make the situation worse. i have no idea what to do about it!!! please anyone with some good advice?

Hi Vicky. I really don't know if a big move is what he needs. Changing schools, loosing friends, being the "new kid" - is going to be very hard for the little fellow. I suspect that is not the best idea now.

Is he in therapy? I think that's the most important thing now. Find the root of the problem and then deal with it. Has he gone thru some recent changes?

Sounds like you have a good relationship with his BioMom - that's great. The more adults working together for the benifit of a child - the better it is for the child! You'll find the right answer. The fact that you're reaching out for advise just shows that you're a great SM!

It couldn't hurt. Just be carefull, I don't know much about little boy depression but I know when I am feeling down and out a change of pace can do alot of good.

Good luck! If you do take him try not to be too hard on his acting out lovinginly and firmly remind him to be calmer.
