I am a step mom to an eight year old little girl. Her dad has had sole custody since she was six months, and I have been her full time mom for the last four years. Her BM is in the picture, she visits her every second weekend. Unfortunately this visit usually involves my SD being put in front of the tv, or meeting the newest boyfriend, so needless to say they are not that close....
Anyway, I was going through my SD's backpack, as she only has two days left of school, and is starting to bring home a lot of her school work. I found a newspaper that each student had made. One article had to do with the environment, another had to be a fictional story, and the third was labelled "My Hero: Jessica". Needless to say the tears started flowing! She wrote about how I m her step mom, I protect her, and teach her the right thing to do, and how she tells me eveything because she know that she can be honest with me, and I will always help her...
There are times when it is so worth it! For a lot of you step-mom's out there whose SK's can't say how much you mean to them, your effort IS appreciated and you ARE loved!
