So frustrated with the taxes because of bm's failure to pay child support

My fiance/hubby's ex-wife is ordered to pay child support, and hadn't for three years, so we took it to the attorney general. We've been to court twice, and she has paid barely $200.00 or so of it, quit paying last month, and now our refund is being delayed because the attorney general wants to garnish her refund to pay us back. That means that we have to wait until she files! Yes, that also should mean that we will be getting extra money, I'm assuming, but I can't understand why they won't release our money now and pay us her garnishment later?! That would make more sense, right? It's like more punishment to us.

Seems like the judicial system is going to pooh. I wish I knew how to start some petition or whatever to get better acknowledgement for the parents in our situations(if not better punishment to the deadbeat parents).

I agree. That is ridiculous. We are in the same situation. My stepdaughters BM was ordered to pay child support almost three years ago, and has never paid a dime, and has no intention of doing so. It's only a little over $300.00 a month. The court ordered to have her wages garnished a few months after the CS was ordered, and she quit her job. I'll be shocked if we ever get a dime. There needs to be better options for parents owed child support. It's not easy to collect it at all!
