I am the Mother of a fullterm stillborn son named My'Kel who recently turned 1 years old on January 19! Becoming a Bereaved Parent is the hardest thing in my life I have ever had to go through. I am from Kentucky & here in Kentucky parent's who give birth to a stillborn do not receive a birth certificate! It's hard enough coping with the loss of your only child but to deny a parent of what other living children's parents receive is so much worse! Please log onto our website at www.mykelsangelsfoundation.com & check out our work & our Stillborn Birth Certificate Petition. You do not have to live in KY to sign it or even to leave a comment. Every vote counts!

I'm also seeking help & understanding on how to cope with his birth, death & burial all in one month. Does it get easier? PLEASE help!

Thank you, Missy Bereaved Parent

Im sorry for your loss as I just recently lost a baby boy, Cyler Ayden, to stillborn just this past month, Jan 18th. GA doesnt give out birth certificates either bc according to them the baby didnt take a first breath outside. But what they do have is a fetal death certificate and it has everything that is on a birth certificate. I have to go to Atlanta and pick it up but its a relief of knowing that I will have something to show that I did have him and he does exist. Thank you for asking for help with grieving bc right now I have no clue where to go or what to do to move forward. I know its only been 4 weeks for me but it feels like a year and it feels like a nightmare that I cant wake up from.

I am the resource queen... If you are on facebook, you should definitely go to the SOBBS page and become a member. SOBBS (Stories of Babies Born Still) is a wonderful resource.

I am a journal type of person. Check Out www.dailystrength.org/stillbirth it's where I began. The Moms there are in different phases of grief. Many of the people I started off with have moved on and only pop over for a visit every once in a while to say hi and to let us know how their rainbows are. The online Journal is a great way to monitor your grieving process.

Star Legacy Foundation is a great place to add your Angel to the Stars http://www.starlegacyfoundation.org/

I'm not certain if you've put in your request for a Molly Bear... I received my Annaya Bear the day after Thanksgiving 2011. It took a year but she arrive right on time. http://mollybears.com/

There's so many resources out there... I don't want to overwhelm you.

This is a life that none of us planned.

Annaya was heaven born on my 37th birthday at 37 weeks, August 27, 2010. I have PVCs and my medicine was increased on Aug. 25th, I went in for a routine check up on Aug. 26th and she was gone. I was told that she probably died while I was on my way to the appointment. I begged them to help me deliver her before midnight because I did not want to share a birthday with her. Now, I completely look at it differently. How many people can honestly say they held an Angel on their birthday? I can. All of my children are August babies... Praying that my next one if I am blessed with a rainbow or two, will be born in another month.

Hope I've been able to help.

Hugs, Love & Rainbows!!!

Nneka, I can seriously use ALL the help that I can get! Kentucky is a very taboo place to live when it comes to the subject of Stillbirth! Nobody wants to open up nor do they really want to help you find out anything! Please tell me anything that can help me, I'm sooo new to this but yet sooo confused!

Thank you Nneka & I'm very sorry for your loss also! I've read about the MISS Foundation but I wasn't aware they had a book of life! I'm definitely going to check them out!

Hi Missy,

I am so sorry for your loss. It's been 17 months since I said hello and goodbye to Annaya. I am blessed to reside in a state which does provide certificates of birth resulting in stillbirth. I have even been fortunate enough to meet the woman who made this possible.

I don't know if you have worked with the MISS Foundation as I know they have assisted people in many states to comply.

I don't know if you've already had My'Kel's name written in the book of life but if not here's the link...

http://www.innocents.com/shrine.asp

Visit this site and they will add his name to the book of life as well as send you a certificate.

Many Hugs!!!
