Some days my 3month old naps 3 times a day, sometimes 4 and sometimes 2. Some days, he naps for an hour each time (except his evening nap) and sometimes 30min. How do I keep him on a tighter schedule?

Quoting Julianna:

3 months? As much as that baby wants. Cherish the sleeping baby! Enjoy your time! You really don't have to worry about their sleeping habits until about 2 years old. Kids need sleep to grow.

I agree!

I can tell you that the sleep has always being a problem for me.. I bought many books.. long story short I dont remember the title of the book that I like so I need to get back to you on that.. what I can tell you is what I learned..

I start noticing how many hours my little one will be awake before symptons of tiredness arrive:fussines, rubbing eyes, yawing.. that will be my queue.. like for example, he was between 3-4 hrs when he was like almost 2 years old. so I will time how long has be being awake and around 3 1/3 hr I will start to make a quick routine: warm milk, music, rocking a little bit and then to the crib.. most times it was ok, others were not. Im not going to kid you around. its not an exact science (sorry for that) but its a good aproximation. how often a baby sleep??man!! tons and tons.. let me look for the book and i will write the title.. ok?

Hi, I am working on my doctorate in health psychology and while I am not a sleep researcher I have a peer (who manages a sleep lab) and my boss who have done a lot with adult sleep. They also both have children so suggested I read A LOT of books on sleep and so I did (The one I found the most helpful was 'Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child' by Weissbluth - which was suggested to my by my boss who does a lot of sleep research) and sleep has gone from something that never happened and a total struggle to part of the most delightful times of my day. Anyways, my 3 months and 3 week old is still taking 4 naps a day. Dr. Weissbluth says this is normal and it does follow a type of 'schedule'. I really suggest getting a book on child/infant sleep because there is just so much to learn about it :)
