we got our kids some of those educational video games or leap frog learning pads and then told them that they were learning like mommy. It also made my oldest really excited about school. We also do a bean bag chair, crackers, and a movie with a blanket. My kids will sit for at least 45 minutes and give me a chance to get a good start on my homework
